Had a meeting in LA (I hate LA), a 100 mile drive. After the meeting went to a restaurant and met up with a dental school classmate. The LA traffic at 7 PM was still a mess. The iced tea finally let me know it was time to make a pit stop. Stopped at a rest stop, took care of business and got back into the car. Hit the ignition and nothing. The dash appeared to have all warning lights, airbag, traction control tire pressure, etc off except the check engine light. Nothing on the DIC. After several attempts, I disconnected the negative battery cable and after a minute or so reconnected it and it started up like nothing was wrong. When I got home, no engine codes from the OBD-II. Seems like one of the modules had a aneurysm. I'm sure I am not alone with this occurrence but was momentarily aggravating with the thought of having to get a tow at 10 PM.
Check the battery. Don't let them just put a multimeter on it because it will read good. Test it under load. Battery. If that is not the issue then I ask, is your car an M6 or auto?
Almost sounds like dirty battery posts to me, I suggest pulling the cables and giving them a good cleaning, even thought they may look clean. I also have to ask how old your battery is ? I suggest taking it to Autozone and having them do a free load test on it just to make sure it's healthy.
With the ignition "ON" (press the bottom of the start button for 5 seconds) the check engine light (MIL) should be illuminated...if not you will have to investigate the power and grounds going to the engine computer...if the ECM is powered the MIL will be illuminated.
Thanks all. The battery is a year old. The car has the M6 so I did have a concern about the clutch interlock switch. I will take the suggestions of cleaning the terminals and having the battery tested with a load.
