Essentially the only use of the LS1 going forward after the 2004 model year of the Corvette is the GTO. Is there an LS1 produced by Holden in Austrlia? Or will the GTO be getting the LS2 and what happens to the LS6?:chevy

I think that is a good question....Since the Caddy V is running the LS6, maybe the GTO owners will get lucky soon or the GTO will get the LS2 engine and GTO owners get lucky.... :smash:
Projected sales volume on the top end for the GTO is 18,000 so if you subtract out the LS6 from Corvette production you have maybe 30,000 lLS1's being produced this year. Is G.M. going to produce only 18,000 LS1's next year for the GTO? :chevy

This will be interesting to see what happens.

I can imagine the XLR line (now with a Northstar) expanding with an XLR-V model with an LS6 engine, just like the CTS-V. Somehow, I just can't see the GTO inheriting the magic of the LS6 or LS2. After seeing the GTO up close at the LA auto show, it doesn't aim high enough in the market to get the newish powerplants.
