LS2/LS7 crate assemblies for swaps / replacements
Any thoughts on how compatible the new LS2 motor will be for existing 6.0 SUV's and replacing LS1/LS6 motors in cars.
I've been through an LS6 install and other than the oil pan / some custom gaskets to protect the aluminum block and some program gremlins, it worked out nice.
I would bet you could recoup the cost differential from the iron block high output 6.0 just in improved gas milage alone over the life of the motor. Because I can honestly say that the LS6 powered Yukon is much more fuel efficient than our Silvarado SS.

I agree that this would be a "fun" swap, i.e. "fun to drive" but I seriously doubt that you could ever recoup the money, and I know you would never recoup it on a net present value basis.

Re: LS2/LS7 crate assemblies for swaps / replacements (Timmy's C5)
I was just wondering if everyone thinks that motor mounts and bolt pattens and accessaries will be consistent with the current 6.0.
On the gas milage thing:
Well the vehicles are similar in weights but the Yukon came in about 170 pounds less with the LS6/no cat. (4480)
Both trucks are 4wd/4.10's but the SS has the higher rated '65' trans. and bigger tires and no bed cover. I really needed to put a converter and exhaust on the Yukon but I ran out of cash and figured I would do it later. The SS gets about 12-13/17 mpg and Yukon gets 14/21 mpg. The Yukon is faster too.
Honestly, I hope the LS2 is a more efficient engine than the current HO 6.0(not just more powerful) becuase I feel guilty putting gas in ALL the time(not as guilty as some of my friends who ride around empty all the time in their cummings/duramax monsters). Oh well, such is america i guess.

I'd be more interested in knowing if my 00 could take an LS7...

It'll be interesting to see the price. I think a crate LS6 costs, what? About $6300.00 right now?
