The Competition
The new Autoweek had the new Porsche, new style, 350 horsepower base.
Still behind the C6. The Z51 with bigger brakes and better handling will prove a good performer against some of the elites like the Porsche 911 and maybe Ferrari 360. The Z06 should be right on the heels of the Viper, all thats left is seeing what Ford has for the next SVT Mustang if they go crazy with it-450+ hp?

Re: The Competition (trivette)
Rumor has it that Ferrari is working hard on a replacement for the 360. Said to more resemble the Enzo in the front end. Said to have 500 HP. This, of course, would be a performance competitor for the new Z06, not a price competitor. Bet when this is introduced, it will cost 3 to 4 times what the Z06 will cost.

The BMW M4 will be interesting also. Rumored to have a 4.0L V-8 at 400HP and a CSL
version at 450HP. The Corvette should have the weight advantage on the M4 but maybe not
the M4 CSL. The M6 will sport a 500HP V-10 but will probably be at a 300+lb weight
disadvantage. There should be some interesting comparisons in the car mags in the next
couple of years.

Re: The Competition (vmspionage)
Do you know if they are still saying 2007 for the M3/M4? I can't wait that long :cry
follow a year later just like the M5 is following the new 5 series.
I learned that the new M5 will only have 500nM (~370ft-lbs) of peak torque which is less than
the current M5. Of course the torque curve could be wider with the F1 technology in the
new V-10.
