Default LS1 & LS2 ?

Could the LS2 be swapped out in a LS1 car without any modifications? Are they interchangeable? Thanks

Now keep in mind that I don't know for sure, but here are things to consider:

The oil pan is different, this may cause minor clearance and aerodynamic issues.

Reprogramming, at the very least, would be required due to the cam change and displacement increase.

The throttle body is wider, so you'd have to scrap the LS1's induction to take full advantage.

The knock sensors have been moved, I believe, so recalibration would be necessary.

I would make sure you swap the entire LS2, PCM and all, to avoid those issues. There may be a problem with getting the new PCM to link up with the other control systems in the C5, though.

The reason I ask is I am trying to figure out if the 05 GTO will have the LS2. It would be easy if it bolted right up because the Monaro is going to still have a LS1 for 05. I don't care about computers tuning etc. Will it physicaly bolt up?
