Does anyone know( FOR SURE )if the C-5 differential will fit into a C-6 ?
Apparently, the design has changed. This is from another site.
The basic design features of the Getrag rear differential have changed, and they should be noted.First, the actual internal structure of the housing is redesigned to produce less flex and improved sealing. This heavier casting means more rigidity, and less side cover flex to reduce the leakage prone to the c5 axle.
However, they cannot be interchanged, as is seen in the picture below. This is the drivers side of the axle.
The housing now uses 2 rear mount locations to fastening to the rear subframe. This particular 'Four Point' suspension system for the driveline reduces vibration and twist to the driveline. It was used on XLR first, with excellent results.
Output shafts are now all strengthened in a different fashion to reduce breakage with drag strip usage.
Clutches and the tension washers have been changed also, for increased reliability.
I'm interested in this also. I have the 3.42 ring and pinnion from my Z06 in the garage. If I were to buy a C6 with auto and 3.15 rear, will the 3.42 r&p fit? All this with some tuning.

Well, I guess if you have the gears sitting around, you either have the knowledge and tools to do it properly, or have a shop who can do it. Either way, it sounds like the case and shafts are the big upgrade, so yes.
