Default Emissions / Calif. vs 50 States

Trying to buy a C6 for use in Calif. What do I have to worry about as far as emissions are concerned? Does the 50 States(can't find the option #) also pass in Calif as the YF5 does? and if not - what are my options?
.
.
And - if any dealers read this - got money in hand.
4spd auto
1SB
F55
U3U
QG7
C2L (if possible)
Would prefer Precision Red ('cuz it's NOT metallic - NOT 'cuz it's supposed to get rare!)
2nd choice - Machine Silver, LM Blue(if problems are straightened out), then Sunset Orange (though I worry that it may look...er, "pimpish")

Since 2001 model year, all Corvettes have been 50-state certified, and I know on C5, all emissions stickers clearly state that the car is certified to meet CA standards.

If you bring a car in from out of state, you will have to have the smog test done yourself, and DMV will check the wording on the sticker. No biggie!

California certification is an option, but there are NO differences in the car, or emission controls. I live in Lake Havasu, AZ, on the California-Arizona border. The dealer recommended that I get the California emissions, in addition to, the 50-state emissions. No extra charge, and, if I sell the car to a Californian, he doesn't have to recertify it....

If you sell to a CA resident, it will have to be smog tested when brought into the state. In order to be legally registered here, it must have either the CA emissions label (which all 'vettes since 2001 do have) OR a minimum of 7500 miles. But all cars (new and used) must have the smog test if they're brought in from out of state.

50 state legal means just that it will pass in all 50 states (and yes for all you back east the Republic of California is still part of the Union) Cali just so happens to have the most strict requirements.

CA emissions is just labeling and bureaucracy. If you live in CA and order a car from an out of state dealer, just have them order it with CA emissions, which is a no cost option.

If you buy a car without CA emissions and register it in CA, you just have to have an emission test, and the probability of passing is 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999 99...+ percent.

or to avoid all hassles, buy the car out of state and have Chevrolet deliver to a dealer in California via the Courtesy Delivery Program. Once it is delivered to the California Dealer then they will interface with California DMV and NO EMISSIONS TEST is needed. You can work the system or let the system work you, your choice.

Duke, just an FYI from personal experience - you can order a car with CA emissions from an out of state dealer, but - if you accept delivery out of state and bring it into CA, you still must get emissions testing done here. Been there, done that, Museum Delivery, 12/99. I know it's stupid, you know it's stupid, but an out of state dealer has no way to file the appropriate paperwork with the state of CA (at least that I know of).

If you order from an out of state dealer, and take local CA courtesy delivery, then the smog paperwork should be filed by the delivering dealer here in CA. But you don't need YF5 to have a legal car.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know that you still had to have a tailpipe test with YF5 if the car wasn't delivered by an instate dealer - thought that only applied to a non-YF5 car.

I think you're right. But the DMV makes it sound like a big deal:
