2005 C6 Onstar Verizon PLEASE HELP !!
Kevin.

I should add........ I have been to the Onstar Website and even called them. I have also been to the GM website and the Verizon website and called Verzon as well. Bottom line is that no one seems to know what is really going on. Unless someone here knows for sure, I may need to call Bowling Green directly for an answer.
I thought that I would start here though.

Go to the FAQ. It says it's an analog system right now.

Currently, your vehicle uses Analog hardware.
The Verizon America's Choice Plan is only available to customers who
have Digital hardware in their vehicles. There is no hardware upgrade
available at this time.
If you have any other concerns, please feel free to contact the OnStar
Customer Care Department at 1-888-4ONSTAR (1-888-466-7827), prompt 4,
between the hours of 6am and 1am EST.
Sincerely,
Bonnie

Message : I just picked up my '05 Vette with Onstar. I
tried to activate the Onstar/Verizon combo service. The Onstar rep told me
I could not since my BRAND NEW Vette had the old analog Onstar system.
Why would Chevy use the old version? The only reason I got the Onstar
option was for the Verizon combo service. How do I get my new Onstar
upgraded to the Digital version?
Vehicle : Corvette 2005

All of the C6 cars that are in production as of today will have the older 5th generation Onstar systems installed in them which will not interface with your Verizon cellular plans. Onstar could not tell me if it will be upgradable at a later date or not, so if you want an integrated mobile phone in your new C6, you will need an aftermarket hands free kit with a separate speaker.... Or you can pay Onstar a freaking fortune to use their personal service. I think Onstar gives you 1000 minutes a year for close to $300.00 if my memory serves me correctly, but this is not an option in my book.
Thanks to this forum, I found out about the problem before I was in the same situation. I waiting for a convertible so I had time to have my dealer remove the On-Star from my order. Sometimes I think GM needs a 16 year old to give them technology advice. The Nav CD player that can't take more than one disk, has no optional inputs, and won't play an MP3 is another example. Failure to think about integrating, into the body, an XM antenna is another missed opportunity. But what can you expect from guys who still use rotary dial phones and AM radios.

This same info is contained within the 2005 Corvette product brochure, in very small print.
