(HELP)v 2005 corvette navigation hack
Crutchfield link on AVIC-N1
$2000 and unit is NAV/DVD/MP3 receiver all in one, and supports XM radio and rear camera, too. Built in G-meters (acceleration/deceleration and lateral G's... built in peak display). Cheaper than Chevy Nav and HUD...
Kenwood makes a NAV/DVD unit, too, but pricier ($2500) and is two separate modules. Only supports Sirius satellite radio.

the resolution and colors anre NOT high enough
This unit IS NOT the same unit that is in the caddys!
You people are beating a dead horse!
Where did you get your information on the statements in the quote below? You can't make these claims without backing them up. If the screen is not the same screen that is in the Caddy, what is the model number of the screen? Who told you that the screen is not capable of displaying video?
Show my some facts...not what you have heard from your brother's cousin's, wife's, girlfriend's, 80 year old Chevy Cavalier dealer from podunk.
I'll listen to you if you give me the model number, a URL with some specs on the screen, etc.
Until then, let's keep the rumors off the boards. It's posts like yours that have people convinced that your random thoughts are true.
PEOPLE, why do you all believe everything you read on here? The worst part is, that you pass the information on as well. Have you all seen whitepapers on the NAV screen?

Here, do your own homework:
www.thevettenet.com/2005_corvette.htm
Read up on it in the reprinted "official" GM Order Info for dealers.
and then compare to the items here:
www.cadillac.com
Good enough for you? Or don't you believe GM?
Bottom line, it's an EGA screen with not enough colors to properly display a video DVD the way most people (perhaps not you though, it seems) are used to seeing a film. 16/256 colors just don't cut it.
That went out with the original IBM color monitor in 1984.
