Default LT5 vs. LS6 vs. LS2

Greeting, 1st time poster, don't have a Vette now, but hope to shortly. Had an '88 L98 in the early '90's.

Question: Has anybody here had the opportunity to drive the (final year) ZR-1 with the LT-5 engine, the Z06/LS6, and the new C6?

They are all right at 400 bhp, but you have big differences in the makeup and tech.

I was wondering if someone would give me a brief description of the differences, more so between the LT-5 and the newer engines, since the reviews for the new C6 include comparisions to the recently used LS-6 engine.

Thanks a bunch, hope I can contribute here in the future.

I'll even take a comparision of the LT-5 vs. the LS-6, since I haven't driven in either an LS-6 or LS-2 equipped Vette !

LT-5 much larger (physically, DOCH heads) and heavier. The ls6 and ls2 are the same makeup, but the ls2 has a larger bore and a better intake manifold w/ larger throttle-body.

The lsx motors are amazing in that they're small, light, and effective.

Supposedly the Z06 wins the 1/4 mile, but over 100 the last year ZR-1 is a true monster. Never driven one though.

Also post in the C5 and ZR1 sections for more responses.

Good luck.

...at this point, I would have to say an 05 C6 - I have driven all three and that is what I like the best as far as a total package of power, comfort, and style (and a lot of neat gizmo's)

It would then be a toss-up between the Z06 and Zr1 w/ the Z06 probably edging the "King" out of the running for everyday use.

If we are talking about every blue moon, then I would buy a Zr1 over the Z06

What I would take over any of those three, is a Callaway Twin Turbo - in 1991, it was rated at 403hp and 575 torque
...but that wasn't the question, right
