Went to the Thunder Shootout today. Mid 70's..~40% humidty, nice high 30.xx barometric pressure... a fairly neutral day. First run 12.93@108, second run 12.93@109, third run 12.73@110. TC off and just putting the pedal to the ground in a Z51 Auto. If the auto's can pull 12.7x's then I know a 6 spd Z51 can do better. This is my dad's car and it ran door to door with my 01 C5 /w TT2800, Stinger Intake/Exhaust, Predator, and homemade cold air induction. My dad said he did nothing different to get the 12.73. He said that the first 2 runs it would bog after shifts and immediately out of the hole. On the 3rd run for some reason the TM didn't activate quite as much.
Nice times. I have a C6 Z51 auto with about 3000 miles on it already. The car feels great. I ran my buddys E55 and the C6 holds its own. The E55 is faster though. Also raced a new Cobra Mustang and beat it by 3 -4 cars. The car feels like a mid 12 sec car.
Right now it sure wont be me hitting 12 secs. I have been trying launches here and there as I get a chance and I keep going into heavy wheelspin and then chopping out of it. Riding the edge of wheelspin is something I have never tried to do and its not as easy as I thought it would be. I do fine in second, its first thats killin me. At any rate I got it in mind to try my luck on open night when I get to where I can at least do it half ***.
I don't think it activated much during the 12.73 pass. The cars trap speed was 110 mph which is right on target for a 345 rwhp 3325 lbs car.
My car(01 C5) has a Yank converter and predator tuning and it ran 110 mph@12.7xx as well so it looks to be maxed out on that run. We ran heads up the first run of the day and neither car gave an inch all the way down the track. It's scary how equally matched the 2 cars are
