I was flying back from FL. today and seated behind me on the plane was a guy talking on his cell phone about business he did at the Homestead race.
We got to chatting.
It turns out he is a VERY respected builder of engine parts whose name has immediate recognition among racers.
I knew exactly who he was when he introduced himself.
Among the many things we talked about, including a full critic of my race motor build up, which he didn't like, was that he built some of the prototype internals for the 7L motor for the new ZO6 and the changes GM was doing for the mass production of the rodends to clear the crank, and dry sleeves, etc.
We talked about a bunch of different stroker displacements for various applications, (I moved into the seat beside him for the duration of the 5 hour flight) I'm fuzzy on the details because we talked for so long, but I recall the stoke will be at least 4" and the piston a little bigger, He said it will be over square, but I was much more interested in our racing conversation, the vette stuff was 2 minutes of a 5 hour conversation.
Sorry didn't make better mental notes for ya'll on the bore x stoke because he definitely said it, but I forgot
The conversation was very matter of fact.
The 7L motor IS coming in the new ZO6
He may be right, but long time forum members can come up with lot's of "take it to the banks" that never came true.
One of my favorites (not forum related) was talking to Chuck Mallett two years ago. He claims to do lots of work for GM as well. He told a friend and I that the C6 WILL have a 3.73 rear axle ratio!
Another friend was told by the fine folks at Bragg Smith that the base C6 would have 335 rear tires (they had been asked by GM to test the C6 prototypes).
Sounds great! For those who wait for the ultimate C6 (the 2006 Z06)...it will definitely surpass the coupe and convertible in performance and prestige.
The link said NOTHING about being 7L. It states 500 hp, and calls it the LS7. I am betting in the mid 6 litre range - a 7 L engine will produce way more than 500 hp - just the way it is.

Not: available at this time, coming soon.
Oops! I am such a believer in 427 (7 liter) that I forgot it wasn't stated on that link. Considering emissions, durability etc. I can't see less than the bigger engine size. We shall see in Jan 05. Would like to put one of those in my 68 and have the advantages of TPI.
