Default Turning Circle Improved?

The answer is yes.

The turning circle usually isn't a major consideration in the buying decision, but if you have to take a sharp turn into your garage you realize that backing and filling is an aggravation. I just finished reading Berg's book "Corvette C6", where he says the C6 is shorter than the C5, but has a longer wheelbase. Longer wheelbase usually means larger turning circle, all other things being equal.

Well, all other things aren't equal. Here are the numbers for all generations of Corvettes (all are curb-to-curb, references cited):

C6 (2005, Berg) 39.0 ft
C5 (2002, corvettemuseum.com) 40.2 ft
C4 (1984, Longworth) 40.0 ft
C3 (1968, internet) 39.9 ft
C2 (1963-67, Dobbins) 40.4 ft (right turns, left is shorter)
C1 (1959, Owners Manual) 37 ft

Sometime in the future this is going to make the C6 one of my favorites. For my current favorites see my photo gallery.
