Default C6 CUSTOM Wheel Project! Need everyones Input..

Right now as it stands, wheel options for the C6 are limited if not non-existant. The only options are custom wheels from companies that create the wheels more for show then for function. Well I for one would like to have both.

I approached a few people who worked on a similar project for the E46 M3. They created 2 types of custom 8000ton spread forged single piece racing/street double duty 1 piece wheel which was stronger and lighter then any other E46M3 wheel on the market. They were VERY enthusiastic about the idea of creating a wheel or wheels for the C6 to meet both form, function, and strength. Now here is the part where everyones input will be invaluable.

Since a run of 10 sets of wheels (10 cars) must be created in order to have the process started, I am trying to guage interest in creating a set of wheels that will exploit the most agressive possible offset and width without going past the point of diminishing returns.

Right now as it stands a set of wheels from IForged will run about $3500 dollars and only 1/2 the wheel is forged and the other is spun. Same goes for HRE but for about $4500.

The wheels will be created by RAC Monolites and CHAMPION MOTORSPORTS. A set of champion wheels normally costs around 5000-5500 dollars. Expect these wheels to cost around 3200-3500.

These wheels, whatever style they may be, will be 100% spread forged to 8000tons. This will make them Extemely strong, and based on the layout that YOU CHOOSE will be extremely light.

Again.. With this boards help, a Consensus will choose the design.

Here are some wheel Design possibilities from HRE, Please feel free to suggest any other designs you feel will look good on the C6:

I'm stuck on the simple clean lines of the stock C-6 wheel, though I would like the lighter weight of forged and a choice of semi gloss black. I think BBS has some forged wheels similar to your first pattern for the Vette. Cleaning some of these may also be more work than I would like. Just a personal choice I guess, and choice is good

I am a big fan of the 547R as well. I also like the 545R, the 445R and the 447R wheels.

The size of the wheel you are going with also makes a difference. The wheels above look good in most any size (even 18s). To me if you go with something like the 540R or the 441R you need to go with atleast 19s. The busy center section tends to make the wheel look smaller than it really is. 547s would look killer in an 18/19 combo, if you go 18/18 the 545s or 445s would look good, 540s and 441s would look good in 19&20 inch applications...all IMHO

These would be built to spec.. and we can do any design we want.. i was leaning towards 545 style.. but i am not a consensus by myself.. Would you be interested in a set?

I'm not a potential buyer, but here's a great design example that wasn't mentioned:

Notice the similar (but cleaner, with the 3D sweep of the spokes onto the hoop) design of the 847R as compared to the 547R. It also provides the illusion of a larger wheel.

847R is very nice. Im not into the zillion rivet look. I also like the CCW505 which is close in stying to the 847R but not available in 18" right now. The point is moot for me though. The ol lady would be whackin me upside the head with a chunk of lumber if I started modding this soon.

How big a chunk of lumber? It might be worth the risk.

She would get over it but I did promise I was going to wait a while to mod this one so I gotta keep my word. I figure if I wait till this spring that should constitute a while...

WOW, i really like them 847's that BW1 showed, the ones ALEVI posted seemed a little clutered and hard on the eyes, the 847 is a nice clean. I think that the 547's make you look at the rims and not the car itself, they are just to much, besides isnt it about the car, not the rims.
Just my thoughts
