Default HUD Retrofit?

I know in the C5 it was relativley easy to retrofit the HUD. I want to get 1SA for cost, and not wanting the added options. Has anyone looked at retrofitted HUD to a 1SA car?

Dear GM:

Why can't I get a 1SA, Z51, 6Spd, 3.90 diff, and HUD? That would be the perfect track monster!

The 1sb package is only 3k more and gives you auto dimming mirrors Bose stereo with 6 disk player, heated seats and HUD.I was told the mono-chromatic windshield is necessary for HUD and cost 2k to replace. The cost of the HUD to install after the fact makes buying it from the factory the only practical way.My friend went to the driving school in AZ., all vette's.They made him turn off the HUD for track.Told him it distracts the driver from looking where he should on turns etc. When he got back from the course he shut the HUD off and never used it again. On his advice I got the 1sa but I feel I'm missing out on the HUD experience since its unique to vette's.If I had to do it again I'd get the 1sb.

I added the HUD to my C5 and it was neat, useful, and of course there was the wow factor.
However, the C5, C6 had great looking and very useful, and easy to read gauges/cluster. Makes the HUD kind of redundant, but still neat.

That is CRAP. One of the tools you can use to tell how well you are driving is monitoring exit speeds on the turns. You can use the speedo or tach to do this but that means you have to really take your eyes off the track to look down. The HUD solves this problem. If it distracts the driver you are talking a pretty simple minded driver.

Bragg-Smith driving school ,Las Vegas Nevada.3 day course driving with c5's and zo6's.Just relating what my buddy told me.By the way he's a great driver, has owned Vette's,Porsche's and Ferrari's and I assure you is no simple minded driver.I still wish I had the HUD just for the cool factor, but if it was such a "must" for road course driving why isn't it on a Ferrari Enzo or McClaren F1?
