Default Need more POWER!

Hey guys im glad i finally got to join everyone on the C6 section... I just traded in my 04 black on black for a 05 black on black coupe I am inpressed. I took the car to the local shop and had it dynoed it made 320 rwhp and 330 rwtq not bad bone stock and only 175 miles lol. My question is what do you think it will do in the quater mile and what should be the first thing that I do. COH has a air box that clams 40 hp or should i go for the long tubes that MTI offers. Give me some suggestions....

Default Be Patient

A lot of things are under development. Someone has already tested airboxes and they only gained about 2-3 hp. Stroker kits for 402 cu in are coming, cpu tuning will make a big improvement since the stock program limits timing advance to only 20 degrees or so. A cam will really wake up the LS2 but some type of tuning software such as LS2 edit will be necessary to get the most out of a cam swap.

Default Don't waste your money on an intake

My C-6 should be here soon. It's a 6sp Z-51 1SX int. The first mod is long tube headers with high flow cats. best bang for the buck. As for intakes keep your money in your pocket. Dave at cartek told me he took the C-6 GM paper filter and the same size K&N on his flow bench, and the GM filter was 2% better than the K&N. Go Figure. Conclusion: the stock system works very well. Even the aftermarket cat back systems don't make much if any HP over the stock unit, and they cost alot for just sound ONLY improvement! Your money would be better spent on 1.8 rockers and hardened pushrods. This would increase the lift from .525 int/ex to .556. Thats a little more than the 2002-4 Z06 lift of .551/.547. I tested the LS2 valve spring which is the 2004 Z06 spring and it works with the 1.8 rockers with plenty left to coil bind.
Just wait a while good things are comming down the road.

Nice metaphor!! I wonder what they will be stickering for. Of course, if you really want more power for your LS2, there just aren't many options yet. Wait a year, and things will improve!

They say adding an '04 Z06 CAM and Valves will add 40 hp, change the head and get more, add headers and get more, add...

Default don't sell the heap

keep the heap. You can make the C-6 real fast and it woun't cost an arm and a leg. The new Z06 according to the GM rep at this years SEMA show, said North of 55,000 plus what ever the dealer can get. and he's not going to give them away. He also told me only 15% will be Z06's annualy that's about 7000 units across the U.S. Do the math. I live in CA. the C-5 I drive now makes 415 rwhp and 400rwtq. It hauls.
My 22 year old son is getting that car. My new C-6 when I'm done will be just as fast and drivable. As for the guy who said long tube headers and HFC aren't an option in CA, well I've got news for you:their not an option in any state in the U.S., but we still have them on our cars. Just wait a while, great performance is comming for C-6's Hell! it's already here.

Default The Real Solution - Ultimate Mod

Just save your money and wait for the LS7 engine. When it becomes available

BUY THE LS7 and install it in YOUR car.

Then you can sell your LS2 to recoup some of money you pay for the LS7.

Actually, I am hoping the LS7 shortblock or partial engine will be offered so that I can use my LS2 heads and components on it.

That's not all true. Our C5 product passed CA emissions and our C6 should too. We'll have a full C6 system out soon, Long Tubes, High Flow Cats, & a pipe that will bolt up to your stock mufflers.

My 2001 Coupe dynoed 310 rwhp. I'm really surprised your's only dynoed 320. Aren't we seeing more like 340 to 360 from stock C6s?
