Im a C5 who has growin intrest in the C6 and have been lurking here off and on... My main question would be regarding track times. It seems the stock c6's are turning equal and faster times then the c5. I was wondering if there is any difference in gearing from the auto's vs the c5, or if stall are higher, etc... I know on the c5's tradtionally, the 6spd was significantly faster. Any insight you guys could provide would be appreciated. Thanks,
So far the quickest bone stock times we've seen on the forum are 12.499 for a Z51 mn6 and a 12.75 for a Z51 A4.
As with the C5, you can order the A4 with either a 2.73 standard or optional 3.15 (required with the Z51 A4).
As with the C5, the sticks are about 3 mph faster at the end of the track.
Don't know about torque converter stall, but I would bet its not high at all.
Thanks pio... It didnt seem right to me that the autos would be quicker. Just seemed like the times I had seen were quicker. It does appear however that the gap between the manual and auto still has grown smaller.

The auto is easier to launch well on the stock tires. The broad torque curve of the LS2 also puts the 4 speed auto at less of a disadvantage against the 6 speed manual. A higher stall converter and a stiffer rear ratio would put the auto in the winner's circle nearly every time.

Yes, The gap is very narrow, I saw two Z28's a couple years back at a dyno day where the A4 pulled 290 vs 288 for a stick, hows that for close?
Both were box stock, LS1's and only a year or so between.
At the strip, the A4's usually beat out the 6 spds (stock vs stock) unless the 6 spd is driven perfectly. I've seen this many many times, GM's A4's are nice trannys! The difference in MPH at the end is because of overall gearing in the tranny and rear end
