Default New Head Gaskets. Still overheating. Radiator?

Okay, well, finally got the car back together, bought a used head to replace the one I messed up, and surprisingly, the car runs very well..buuuut

it is now overheating. It ran fine for about 3 hours after the head gaskets, but now it is overheating within minutes of starting it up.

both fans appear to be working as they should, and I filled the block up with water thru the thermostat housing, and thru the upper radiator hose to fill up the radiator. I also filled both tanks.

I was thinking that i had air in the system, but when i took off the thermostat, the pump was full of water so i am pretty sure it was in the engine as well.

The pump is new and i verified the thermostat opens on both sides by boiling it......also, i bled and bled the system over and over.

now, I noticed that when i rev the engine slightly, both the upper and lower radiator hoses expand almost like balloons. I am not getting any white exhaust like before, and there is no hydro locking of the engine, so I am optimisticly confident that the head gaskets are sealing. Shouldnt at least one of the hoses be soft when accelerating the engine? would a clogged radiator cause this? The system was neglected for quite a while and there was rust in the sytem because I had a leak before and it was too expensive to keep buying antifreeze every day. What gets me is that it ran fine for at least a couple hours after I got it together...and it still runs good...just overheats.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I go changing parts.
How do I check the circulation? Also, how do I check the radiator? i put a hose in the top, and water did come out the bottom but I am not sure if that's a valid test.

TIA
Sam

Also, moving the temp to heat does cool it down for a little while...but it goes back up. And the coolant seems to be boiling out of the engine and into and out of the overflow.

i have replaced the rad cap too. The only thing that hasnt been changed in the cooling system is the radiator and the heater core. But I hate to change it without a proper diagnosis.

thanks again in advance for you help..as always.

Is this a C6? If not, you posted in the wrong section. If so, I'm very confused
