Default Help! How do I remove the climate control?

I know this is a common problem but i thought i'd post this anyway. Lately my climate control display has been getting a mind of it's own. About three months ago it started to dim a lot. Then two ago, it came back to full brightness. That lasted for about a week. Also, it loses its memory every now and then, which is really irritating! I think all I need to do is take it out and clean the connections. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Why not just take it back to the dealer?

You do know that the climate control system settings are "tied" to the FOBS, right? Even if you only have the 1SX option, without the use of the memory buttons, the settings get saved. Maybe you've switched FOBS once in awhile. Those settings get saved automatically for whichever FOB you're using.

Not sure about the brightness issue, but maybe the brightness is tied to the interior light brightness, which you set with the switch on the left side of the dash, just above your knee. Try it and see if adjusting the dash board lights also adjusts the brightness of the climate control display screen.

Thanks, I did not know that. Sometimes if I smack the side of the consule next to the climate control the display gets bright again. Then it goes away after I drive over some bumpy ground. I really think that it's just a lose connection or something like that. The dealer wants $500 to for the part and labor to intall a new one. That's all they said I could do.

I just realized I posted this topic in the wrong section. My car is a 97. Boy do I feel dumb! Thanks for the suggestions anyway.
