does any one know how to measure encrease in h.p. on the ground from installing the g.m 3.8 gear placing 2.3(or what ever it is) est now estimate now that the a4 349.8 rwhp is putting don 253 hp..the ugrade can be done for about 1800.00..

If you are asking about changing the rear differential gearing from 3.42 to 3.8(?) then the answer for you is simple. There is no net horsepower gain from such a change. There is more torque multiplication which slightly improves launch and quarter mile times...at the sacrifice of fuel economy on the highway.
