Yestrday morning I went to start the C6,which I've had for 3 weeks, and the battery was dead. Had to use the the pull cord to get into it. It's a 6 speed, so I had it in reverse, no hand brake on. What could have caused the battery to discharge? Put a charger on it and fully charged it. Anybody have any clues to the discharge?
Had it happen to mine the other day too.
Maybe not using the car enough, because of bad weather?
Maybe the alternator is not as strong as it could be, for performance sake.
There are all the active sensors radiating their energy, even with the key off.
I think this adds up to an easily drained battery.
Check out the dead battery poll in the general C6 forum. Most were 6 spds.
I'm thinking of going to a more powerful battery if it happens again.
Didn't drive it for 4 days and it was so dead that even jumping it wouldn't turn it over. All we got was a bunch of DIC codes while trying to start it. Finally after 6 attempts, it fired up and has been fine ever since. The car didn't even have 700 miles on it. The GM batteries are terrible. I think we are going to drop in the small size red top Optima or a yellow top in it and be done with it.

Shawn
how did you retrieve the codes? or did you mean DIC messages?
just curious since I havent heard of any way to see the DTC codes
like you could on the C5.
Sorry to say you have now joined the growing "C6 MN6 dead battery club". My problem ceased after the second time the battery died and the car was towed back to the dealer and had the battery replaced. Seems to be defective batteries. There are already many posts on this subject.
Been reported many times before. Maybe you didn't see the posts. Search a month back on the Gen Forum. As best we can determine Delco had problems with a batch of batteries. Once the Batt was replaced, all reported problem solved. If this has happened to you, Insist that the dealer install a new Batt. Don't let them you with, "Oh we charged it up & it should be fine." Once a battery goes dead, it's only capable of 70-80% of it’s orig capacity. Your 575CCA battery is now only capable of just 480CCA. You'll discover that when it gets cold.
Corvettes have had problems with batteries not holding a charge since the C4 days. They really have to be started and warmed up at least once a week or a battery tender put on them.
