I 've been reading numerous threads relative to the subject which is causing me some confusion. My question is: What is the best long tube header and exhaust package that will develop the most RWH and Torque? I contacted two local dealers today and they both refused to install after-market parts. They both sell less than 5 Corvettes per year. I plan on doing the installation in my private shop. Does anyone foresee a warranty problem with this approach?
If you head over to the C5 tech section, you will find a ton of info on this. At this point, your best bet is probably the closest vendor that will stand behind a product. All of the systems produce very nice gains, some in different spots, but they all pretty much make power. If this is anything like the C5 tech section, you will see a series of mine is bigger and better comments coming soon....
Todd is right. They all make good gains. Even though the best primary tube length for these motors is 1 3/4 X 32; most after market headers are a bit shorter about 25 inch primaries. Yet they seem to work great. I've just got my kook headers and cats. Nice system, 3 inch collectors, cats and x pipe.
It then tappers down to 2.5 inches. Great workmanship, and guality materials. It includes the extenders for the O2's. I got them from dave at Cartek.
ARCHTOP,
Did you personally install the exhaust system and if so, how difficult? I live in Va. and in my location there are no speciality Corvette shops. Since you live in N.C., could you recomend a performance shop. I expect to take delivery of my C6 at Kerbeck in Atlantic City in approximately 3 weeks. The B&B system sounds interesting. I was hoping to have an exhaust system ready for installation at the time of delivery, but I think I'll wait until B&B's total exhaust package dyno numbers are available . Thanks for your reply.

The B&B header will be 1 3/4" tubing with a primary length of 30"-32". We will offer it with or without a metal matrix high flow catalytic convertor that will be incorporate into our x-pipe section.
No dealer will install long tube headers due to the fact you must remove/relocate the cats. They should not have a problem installing an x-pipe or a muffler section, as these in no way effect any emission control devices.

My stealer installed mine with the corsa for 671.00.I believe Cartek in NJ charges 350 and carries them.In NC More Performance in Charlotte is the tuner shop recomended by Kook's but Cartek is closer since your picking the car up in Jersey and they're great. They could probably get the BB package which I'm sure is also great.Good Luck!

More Performance charges a good buck for any of their work too. Their labor rate is $80 p/hr Regardless, they have quite a waiting list due to the fact that they are the only place around that messes with the stuff exclusively.

My experience has been "you get what you pay for",Kook's rave about Mike's work as do several other corvette tuners I've spoken with.
He quoted me about 500 to install exhaust with a couple of dyno runs, sounds about right to me.

Id go with KOOKS... plus they got a good promo now when you buy a Corsa...
I read the article about Cartek in the March issue of Popular Hot Rodding and I've desided to go with the Stage 1 package plus some other enhancements Dave Busch suggested. He is extremely knowledgeable about the C6. I was amazed at his willingness to listen to my questions, offer suggestions, and his promptness to return phone calls and e-mails. Kerbeck's Sam Kelly called the factory this morning and was informed that my C6 started production yesterday 1-24-05. I will take take delivery at Kerbeck's and then drive North 100 miles to Cartek's location in Garwood, N.J. I'm 58 and have owned some fast cars in the past, but have never been as excited as I am now.
