This may be a stupid question, but will Chevy or aftermarket suppliers offer the '06 steering wheel to replace the '05 steering wheel?
I have a '05 on order, but I like the '06's steering wheel more.
The short answer is that we don't know. Hopefully, the hub and wiring are the same, so it will be a simple parts bin swap. If that's the case, then you can buy a new wheel at the Chevy parts counter and swap it in. But if the hub or wiring are different, that'll be harder. You'll either need to replace the entire steering column, or do some cut and splice electrical work (something I'd be reluctant to do for an air bag).

That makes sense. I hope the fitment is the same; I can't see why they would change that as well.
I saw an advertisement on NBC this morning while watching the Auto show that showed one of GM's new SUVs(I can't keep track of all the names of them). It had a steering wheel with a strong resemblance to the '06 C6 wheel. For those waiting to order until '06,you may want to check it out,if the commonality of steering wheels across the product line is what's keeping you from ordering an '05.We may have a similar scenerio next year.Maybe GM will offer a variety of wheels as they expand their aftermarket Corvette line.I think it could be a very popular )and profitable niche for them to capture early on.

I've seen many GM cars with the new steering wheel (Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Aura,etc.). I don't know if this is the new GM steering wheel for all it's car lines, or just the sporty/ import oriented cars.
