Default Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool

Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool

Here is the Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool. It has been on market for over 10 years now and proven itself to be a must when installing a harmonic balancer. Universal installer tool kits do not work well with the GM LS Series motors. No longer do you have to chance stripped or damaged crank threads trying other installation methods.

There are two versions offered, the GM LS1, LS6, LS2 & LS3 or the GM LS7. The GM LS7 version is approximately 3 inches longer due to the deeper crank threads in the GM LS7. So the tool needs to be longer. The GM LS7 version can be used on other LS motors but there may be clearance issues with the added length of the tool during use.

With all the harmonic balancer issues I'd thought you'd be sold out by now. Looks like a good product.

Pretty sure I have one of these (sent me one when I sold you an F1A blower a few years ago) and I'll have to say that after being used dozens of times it still works like new. Even after pushing on some pretty tight ATI hubs, nice product.

I have had one for over 4 years. best money spend, no problems on 4 cam installs. Works great.

Question - Do the forged crank LS3 versions (dry sump engines) have the deeper threaded hole like the LS7?

CoSpeed, do you know? Or, does anyone else know?

The only way I know to check is to physically have the crank bolt out, and measure it.......

No one never did answer my question above. I'm not buying this tool unless I'm sure it will work with the LS3 DRY SUMP VERSION engine.......

the harmonic balancer is a three piece assembly consisting of a cast center hub, a rubber band center, then a serpentine pulley outer ring. The bonding assembly process as well as the tolerances that are used, fail over a period of time that varies (some sooner, some later, some maybe never).

When the failure occurs, the outer ribbed pulley begins to dislocate from the rubber band and hub. This causes the outer assembly to wobble. As the wobble gets worse, the outer assembly can hit the timing cover, or spin the belt, and/or cause the serpentine belt to squeal.

As soon as the assembly goes out of true, the HB will start to induce vibrations throughout the rotating assembly. A wobbling HB is not good and should be replaced.
