[Z06] [PICS] ZR1 Splitter Install How-To

Great write up from a great memeber
Yes sir back in 2009 when I had to add the splitter and not get the high speed smile sag. The write up with the rear ZR1 braket made it all work properly. That's how you do it right and not take short cuts.
Glad yo see all the members using the old posts and DYI's that make a solid difference in performance. I still get questions and compliments on my old rear diffuser install of the Breathless performance GT2 Diffuser. I still get compliments on the whole areo package from all the Z06 members at shows.

poly-urethane ZR1 splitter.
Great write up. Much appreciated. This is a pretty simple straight forward install. The picture help greatly. The only thing I wish was different about this whole thing is that I wish that somebody would make a polyurethane version of the ZR1 front splitter. The FRP/Carbon Fiber ones are so low to the ground that it is difficult to not get chips, dings, cracks etc in it.
I am very surprised that a poly-Urethane version has not been created yet. Thanks again for the write up!

Prior to installing what I need for the track, this is giving me an opportunity to see what rubs on driveways & streets. Plus this gives me practice with nose in parking.

Most people probably do know by now that these poly ZR! splitters are available. I installed one a while back and paid $150. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...front+splitter

I actually got into trouble for that post that you quoted me on. Someone did not like me suggesting that the CF product would chip/crack under normal wear. So I am not suggesting that at all. However, I since have purchased the Poly ZR1 from Ebay (Just like you did) and I love it! It flexes, is inexpensive and was a perfect fit.

If I had a garage like that I would sleep in it
Actually i'm just about to buy front splitter and side skirts/splash guards for my 06Z. I see the link goes to a full page. Sorry if I missed it but can you let me know what one comes with the extra support for the splitter? Thanks.

Hi everyone,
Now that Photobucket is charging everyone to see previously posted 3rd party photos, does anyone have the pics from this post? I am ready to trash my splitter and install a new one that I have had painted the body color. The first one I did on my back! This time I am going to do it this way! What a write-up This is how we help each other and become true Corvette Community supporters!
Thanks Poor-Sha again for the superb job!

Do you have any pictures of your splitter you could share with me. Thanks

I started pulling the photos and uploading them to the forum. Its time consuming and I'll work on it again tonight. Then I'm canceling my Photobucket account.

Thanks so much! I can't believe the $399price from Photophuckit! I'm not opposed to paying for a service but $399, really? Great way to get rid of customers!

Great post!! I just found this - after I finished installing my bumper reinforcement, crap. The one thing I would note is that the outer bracket at the top of the bumper cover, outboard of the headlights, is extremely sharp. It should be covered with bubble wrap or rags before trying to remove/reinstall the cover (ask me how I know).
