Z06 Rear Brake caliper problem
I recently changed the brakes on my 2008 Z06 and when I was replacing the right (passenger) rear caliper, the silver round flat nut on the caliper that the mounting bolt threads onto stripped. I was able to re-thread it to get the caliper back on the car, but am looking to replace that piece in the event that it will not hold. I went to the dealer and you can not buy just that piece, I have to purchase an entire caliper for $600 from them or $370 from GM parts direct. The silver threaded nut is not built into the caliper, it pops out, but GM does not sell the replacement.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Or have a red right rear Z06 caliper that they are willing to part with?
Thanks

Can a heli-coil thread insert be used instead?
I had a Brembo caliper that had the threads cast in, that I managed to strip. I was able to use heli-coil inserts, that turned out to be even stronger than the original threads!

I am not familiar with help-coil inserts but will look into it. I was able to get a replacement piece from a member's spare caliper but I am sure this has happened before or it will again. Thanks for your help

You are going to more than likely have to use a Heli-coil
