Default How to sell a Corvette!

Please do not put "Pretty C7 for sale" as your thread title. We know it's a C7, it's "pretty", and it's for sale because of you posting here in the first place. Instead, please put something similar to:

"year / trim / coupe vs convertible / manual vs auto / color / options / location"

for instance:

"2016 Z06 2LZ coupe, M7, arctic white, black interior, comp seats, aero3, in VA"

I'm not trying to rant, but am merely saying your thread gets so much more attention when you state exactly what you are selling in the thread title.

You can easily sort these types of options on "car buying websites", however I would much rather buy from someone on this forum, and would just like to see it easier for members to buy from other members just looking at the thread title. And of course - POST PICTURES. Lots of them.

And now I will go hide...

Default Vacuum The Floors!!!!!!!

I'll jump in here with a pet peeve of mine. VACUUM the floor!!!!!!!! I can't tell you how many for sale ads I've looked at where they go on and on about the meticulous care they've given the car and then in the pictures the drives side and usually the pax side floors are filthy! Come of guys, show you really care about your car, vacuum it out for the pictures at least!

I agree. So many people are sales ad challenged. Leave out all the drama of selling your baby and just post the facts. Post pics of all angles possible. Don't be so wordy. Nobody wants to read all that. I just recently sold my C5 Z06 and it was gone in four days. Either I sold it too cheap or the ad was really good.

A - Thanks, sir.

B - Haha yeah that's my perfect car (that I'm looking to buy) as well...and I live in northern VA. It's so hard to find the perfect combo of specs!

There's a car that meets a lot of the search criteria currently for sale on here, except that it is DSOM. While I agree it's a beautiful color...I'm just trying to decide if it's for me.

So true. The way some of these threads read...

I know this site is not paid for classifieds like Autotrader/Cars.com/etc., but there should be a simple field entry for the above as stated with a requirement to fill out before posting. The choices don't have to be from a predetermined list (though it would make searching more concise), but should have straightforward answers.

Take a picture of the dash with the engine running and up to temperature that shows the oil pressure gauge. Oil pressure is a great tell-tale for engine condition.

Ditto's to all of the above.

And I'd like to add, orient your pictures correctly (not upside-down & sideways etc..) or don't post 'em.
It's not that difficult.

Thanks for posting this subject.
Now, pictures are Paramount!
Before photos lets get ****.
Windex windows,vacuum all carpet.
Now, when taking pictures, try not to take pictures under the Sun.
It will wash your color out and or Create a glare on your car. Especially silver cars.
Taking pix in your shop works.
if you must take pix under the sun, be certain the Sun is shining over your shoulder.
Overcast sky’s work best.
Crystal clear photos taken from all 4 corners of your Corvette.
If you have the window sticker or other GM paperwork, post a Readable picture of it.
Interior shots from each open door.
Engine comp. pic from each side,
Pictures of dash showing miles and center screen.
Always show your paint chips, scuffs, etc. you know where there at.
Hide nothing.
After fulfilling the above pictures, go ahead and show what you deem special about your car.
Again, don’t make someone ask to see the Window Sticker.
Phone numbers are important.
If a buyer/seller won’t give you his phone number.
Walk Away.
Scammer.
If legit, share pictures of your drivers license with the respective party standing in front of a mirror proving who they are.

I’ll end with this, some people are helpless taking pictures or blind. Hire a pro.
Thanks again for starting this post.

AND.

If your C7 has the A8 transmission, indicate any service performed to combat / alleviate the known issue with the Automatic Fuel Management System (AFM) and the Torque Converter. This issue is now widely known and understood.

For example,
Since purchase (new)
  • Have only driven in Sport Mode using the paddle shifters
  • Dealer flush of Transmission fluid
  • Dealer replaced Torque Converter at #### miles
And if it's OK to talk about the Range device,
  • Got the Range device on day 1 and have just left it installed
  • Installed the Range device at #### miles (and it comes with the car!)

MOD - Steven can you advise a way to edit the title in a thread after it's been posted. I've edited the title thread, its show the edited version within the post, but the main thread title in the listings remains unchanged. Can you help.
Thanks,
