Default WEAPON-X 991whp Procharger/Nitrous Z06

Weapon-X 991whp 2016 C7 Z06 Build

A family member, and good friend of mine came to me a while back looking to make some more power out of his Z06. He gave me his budget, and said to me: "Do what you would do if it was your car." I grinned to myself, said "okay"and this is what I came up with..
  • F1A with 94 millimeter housing, 3.78" blower pulley, vertical mount air to air intercooler
  • Innovators West 9% Lower Overdrive (This should help with belt slip when we pulley it down and spin that F1A-94 to 80k rpm)
  • Weapon-X Custom Grind Centri Cam w/+32% Fuel Lobe
  • 4130 Chromoly 3/8" pushrods
  • Dual .660 Springs/Titanium retainer kit
  • Camshaft phaser lock, DOD/AFM Delete
  • ARP Head stud kit
  • ARH 2" Longtube's w/ ORX
  • Nitrous Express Fogger Kit w/ -6an feed (We wanted to spray the car through so it reached the Prochargers powerband faster)
  • Nitrous Express Maximizer 5 Progressive Nitrous Controller (Keeps Procharger+Nitrous traction issues at a minimum)
  • Nitrous Express 10lb. Tank w/ Bottle Heater
  • JMS Fuel Pump Voltage Booster (This helped us stay in the budget until we do round two and add our WXM Fuel Line Pressure Kit)
  • Alky Control Dual Nozzle Meth kit (Keeping the IAT's under control and in case we needed it for fuel)
  • Factory Reproductions C7 Z06 18" Replica Wheels with 345/35/18 M/T Drag Radials (Ben may strangle me for putting this up here but the knockoff 18's were very cost effective)
A few weeks later after all of the parts had arrived at Weapon-X, he came down from Cleveland and the build began.

Opened up the new goodies and the tear down began.

Engine removal for the cam kit and new timing chain.

This is our awesome technician Chris Gillespie, he is a UNOH graduate. He is the one who did the entire install/build.

ARP head stud kit in place, and the new dual valve springs with titanium retainers.

The engine back in with the new Procharger in place.

Nitrous, Meth, and JMS fuel pump voltage booster install.

FR 18"x13" C7Z replica wheels and M/T 345/35/18 drag radials.

Our final numbers were:
830whp Procharger only
870whp Procharger+Meth
991whp Procharger+Meth+Nitrous

I should be able to add some videos at the beginning of the week!!

Still waiting on our tuner to send me the graphs!

Nitrous is on the Max5 progressive controller ramping in around 2,500rpm and shutting off 200rpm before the shift point.
Progressive controller is hooked up to rpm/wheel speed sensor for traction tuning.
175HP shot (.070no2/.049fuel I think.)
-6AN no2 feed
Fuel supplied from low side (no dedicated fuel cell)
Flip up 12v accessory no2 switch panel.

What else would you like to know?

so I'm wondering if upgrading the base C7 low side pump to the Z06 pump and adding this voltage booster is a viable low side option for guys wanting to be in this hp range? Seems like a good option from this build.

Still going to need a cam with fuel lobe and meth for the numbers this car is making.

If you are going to drop the fuel tank and change pumps you can just do a drop in 450 fuel pump and be done. No JMS needed.

Personally, I do not like to drop the tanks on any C5 or newer Corvette, with the driveline in. So I tend to lean towards a low side or JMS for simplicity, and the ease of install.

that was my only concern having to drop the tank. Will the jms on a base C7 boost low side output similar to the Z low side?

I'm not really sure, if I had to guess I would say the results would be similar. We have not actually installed a JMS on a Stingray yet.

I've seen stock C5Z pumps make 800whp with a JMS with no problem. I really can't see GM retrogressing in the pump design, if that says anything.
