Procharger PCM programming required???
Dear all,
I want to add some additional power to my 2017 Grand Sport.
Due to the fact, that I live in Germany and I can not find a good tune shop for us-cars, I need a „plug&play“ kit...
I found the Procharger kit, as far as I found on their homepage, this kit should come with a handheld tuner and already a tune. Sounds perfect.
But:
Meanwhile, procharger sent me already the instruction manual.
Now I am really confused :-(
The mention that I will have to remove my PCM and had it reprogrammed for a 2017 C7 (Grand Sport not specially mentioned)
So why is this kit delivered with a handheld tuner if I can not use?
Will I have to buy a tuner kit without handheld?
As mentioned, it is hard to find someone in Germany, who can tune a C7, so I am looking for a real "plug & play" system. (removing, sending to US, reprogramming, sending back will take too long...)
Has anybody installed this kit at a Grand Sport?
If I the Procharger is not plug&play, what else is on the market.

Procharger and the Edelbrock e-Force are the two most plug-n-play supercharger kits you'll find on the market for the C7. It could be different with you being international, but in the US with Procharger you use the included handheld tuner to email your stock tune to Procharger then they'll modify it and send it back to you in email, then you just load it onto the handheld and flash the car.

It could be different with you being international, but in the US with Procharger you use the included handheld tuner to email your stock tune to Procharger then they'll modify it and send it back to you in email, then you just load it onto the handheld and flash the car.
But the manual ist quite clear: For up to 2016 use Handheld, for 2017+ reprogramm PCM, see attached screenshoots from manual. There is no special international version or manual.
Also procharger wrote to my question:
me: ...I just saw in the manual, that for 2017, the PCM must be sent in an no handheld tune???"

Is there anybody outhere, who has installed the procharger kit at a 2017 Grand Sport and can confirm, that the handheld tune works and that the PCM needs not to be reprogrammed???

HPTuner should work. HPTuners.com
I have a 17 grandsport and when I ordered my kooks headers only HPTuners could write and receive my tune files. I would think the handhelds work by now.
consequently I too am looking at Procharger and Edelbrock and already have HPTuners.
So far the E-Force appears to be the most DIY friendly with install and tune.
I have a 17 grandsport and when I ordered my kooks headers only HPTuners could write and receive my tune files. I would think the handhelds work by now.

17’s and above - the ECM is “locked” (as is the TCM). The ECM can be unlocked by contacting HPT and paying the $150 or there about price. The TCM must be sent in to HPT or EFIL to be unlocked.

Is that for German or EU cars only? The above is not the case in the States On manual transmission cars. You have to pay the credits to write tunes and license the car.

I didn’t know that 3.4 & 3.5 HPT supported 17’s ECM now ... before you had to have an internet connection and some other jazz to get the file and send it to HPT. Though you still have to physically remove the TCM and send it in for it to unlocked
