I know a local car built by GForce that made 830 rwhp, and it was ran pretty hard for a while roll racing it...It finally broke a rod. Snapped it right in the middle, big end and small end was still free and smooth so....The rod was just over powered.
I don't think I'd go over 750 rwhp on one.... let alone the weak *** pistons. It dame sure ain't no LS3 motor....
IMOP, if you are pulling the motor for pistons, its not much more for rods..... $600 for a set of Compstar or K1 rods and re-balancing, sizing bearings etc.... Definitely worth the extra $1k you'll spend for piece of mind..
