How to pull my tune from my car?
im trying to get a retune and the tuner asked me to send him my current tune. It’s HPtuners I beleive (isn’t that what AA superchargers uses to tune?) I have no idea how this works. Please put it in terms I can understand as a tune newb.

You need HP Tuners software and hardware to read (and write) the tune...Check out the HP tuners forum. They have a bunch of FAQ's to get you up to speed. There are other software and hardware packages such as AutoCal, but HP tuners is widely used. The software and hardware costs around $500.00 with credits to write the tune to your car...

Ok so about $500 gets me what I need to be able to do the tune myself? Im thinking of just learning how to do the basics myself at this point. I do have some experience with many years of racing DSM's. I know this is a totally diff animal but if I make just small changes from my current tune and keep an eye on AFR, knock, timing I should be ok ya? How do the credits work? Once I pay the $500 for everything I can make unlimited changes or you do you have to pay every time you change the tune or?

I put money after the 1st WOT will not be a 2nd WOT. OP not being a smart azz here but if me I would do a lot of home work with HP tuners or EFI live to get more about these cars & tuning on them.
Let say this more then a few guys that had been tuning the c5 & c6 cars blew up a number of motors thinking it would take more timing & diff stuff that the c5 & c6 would do..Robert

Ok so I need to pay $500 to get the setup, and then pay someone to adjust my tune since I guess it is very risky to do without loads of experience. The question is, how much is fair for me to pay someone to adjust my current tune? I don't need a totally new tune as its been done by a reputable shop. I just need a couple things fine tuned. What should I expect to have to pay to have someone do this remotely?

Cost for this work is around 400.00 to 600.00 on the avg per say any more & you are over paying her.
T/A KID is what he goes by in here that did mine. Message me if you need more on guys that I would trust for this... Robert

Need a wideband for any of this to work also. Can't tune WOT without one.
And the new HPTuners interface doesn't connect with most widebands yet, so things are more complicated right now than they were. Exception being a few AEM CAN based models.

Just find a local tuner and do it that way. That will be half the total price and less risk since you should like you don't know what you're doing.

Bought the tuner & plan on doing this tomorrow.
Few Questions
I get the option not to read the ECM, correct?
If I don’t read or access the ECM how many credits do I need to complete this?
After I complete the process do I have to unplug the valves or pull the fuse or can I leave them alone for now?
Thanks
Eric

Depends on the vehicle. For most, you license the ECM and TCM together for either 2 or 4 credits depending on model/year.
You don’t have to license or pay for credits until you try to write changes to the car so you can read whatever you want until you figure it out. I’d just read the ECM and TCM off the bat though.
What are you trying to actually do?

Thanks FYREANT!!! I see you’re in Lehigh, I live in Valrico (Tampa area). Not sure if you track your car or not but I go to Sebring quite often with Nasa,PCA, etc. I owe you lunch or a beer, hopefully I’ll see you at the track sometime...
Thanks

Got it figured out, getting rid of AFM related issues due to track use...
Thanks

In your engine tab, Click fuel, then click Lean/fuel-savings. to the left of the screen will be Displacement on Demand. Under General there is a tab saying DoD and it has a disable or enable choice. Just make it Disabled and you'll always be in 8 cylinder mode
