Default WEAPON-X.1700 C7 Stingray 1,450 WHP - F1X, SPI Kit, Chiller and more - NO LIMITS!

This build is the pinnacle of performance with every revolutionary thing we've released from our LT427 sleeved engine, Big Valve heads, Boost Freeze Chiller to our Secondary Port Injection SPI Kit, perfectly fueling this F1X 25 PSI ethanol fed beast and combined them with the best the aftermarket industry has to offer! Shawn brought his 2014 Blade Silver C7 Z51 to us with another shop's 600whp package with an ECS kit and cam and he was happy, but he loved all of the wild things we've been working on and wanted a best of the best build, and judging by his comments, I'd say he got exactly what he wanted!

“Ben - It’s incredible, totally different car! So well behaved. No issues...idles well, no stalling or hesitation, and can coast getting off the highway and it goes straight to a perfect idle. I would not have predicted you could make it this close to perfect given the radical mods we have done to the car. Damn near a 1500 hp daily driver. Thank you!!!"

I'll take you through this from starting X1500 package to finished X1700 package, so you can see the road blocks we ran into along the way with some restrictive parts. This car was a first for a lot of things, so while being first gives you the glory, it also challenges you to think ahead to prevent potential problems. I'll explain this in greater detail later, but the vastly inefficient intercooler sold in the F1X kit is a real problem for big boost and the X1700 is worlds better after the X1500 package with the development of our port injection fueling kit, which allowed us to be more aggressive than the 93/meth kit. This car has a fuel consumption like we have NEVER seen before too.

Whats your plan going forward to address the 9psi lost through the standard IC core?

Default X1500 Summary

As mentioned previously, the fuel consumption of this setup was incredible! We were spraying nearly 50 GPH of direct port methanol on top of the overdrive fuel pump and 194lb injectors and we STILL could not run any ethanol blend. In fact, we had to upgrade the line pump just to be able to run 93 octane! We have a Mustang 1100AWD dyno, and I'm always the first to admit it doesn't read as low as your typical Mustang; however, it does read lower than a Dyno Jet. Regardless, we could not get this setup to make the power I wanted out of it.

So, we began to troubleshoot the overall setup:
  • F1X was spinning at approx 80K RPMs, having started out at 70K just to get over 1000whp.
  • Timing was lower on this setup because of 93/meth as well.
  • Blower speed was high creating heat; however, that much methanol kept the temps well within check.
  • Meth works to supplement fuel and add cooling, but I never like the complications of it over proper port injection fueling, so that was in development in the background.
  • The blower outlet pressure was 29 PSI; however after the Procharger intercooler, we were only seeing 20 PSI at the throttle body, which means we had a 9 PSI pressure drop through that intercooler!
You can see in the dyno graph just how hard this setup was struggling to make this power as the graph is wavy and the trajectory changes drastically at 6000 RPM where the restriction really comes in exponentially. So, we talked with Shawn and made a plan for him to enjoy the car for the good weather and he could bring it back to us over the winter for the Stage 2 setup if he wanted more.

And this leads us to Storm's stage 2 build! We were able to not only gain insane power, but we were able to increase supercharger, safer engine tune, less headaches with consumable meth, less risk of meth parts failure!

Default WEAPON-X ATW F1X Kit

So, the first challenge we had was clearing the hood with this massive manifold, so we did the RKS Cowl Hood and it turned out really slick on the convertible especially!

Next we had to convert the front end to the C7 Z06 baffle and fab our own charge pipe with dual Red Race Valves

Default WEAPON-X Boost Freeze Chiller

The most important part of this, given the C7s lack of space as well as the simplicity of pushing a button vs. running a tank, lines, pump, and extra 100lbs is the Boost Freeze Chiller kit we've been developing the last year. We have successfully hit water temps as low as 25* with the push of a button. You get more timing, less boost due to the dense air, less weight, and no hassle. This is the same system I'm running on my compound boost ZL1 making nearly 30 PSI!
