I know a lot of the early LT4 builds were going with VVT deletes and cam phase limiters. Has there been a shift towards lockouts? If so what was the discovery to the shift? Buddy of mine is trying to diagnose a possible drivetrain issue and a few people are stating its a lock out vs limiter issue. Any insight would be great!!
we always do a full lockout. seen it countless times cars come in from other shops with a cam and a phaser limiter and the cam will roll back some up top.

Seeing this on certain applications more so than other, PD v Centri with more linear power or does it not matter really? Certain power level more at risk?
If you still have a VVT cam I belive you will have to change the lifters as well. I don't think you can just put a lock in the gear and call it good. The tune also needs to be adjusted. I don't know for certain that you can do this. It isn't a normal practice to attempt this way. I'd suggest a non VVT cam setup and lock it out. On a built motor and 2650 setup you shouldn't be running VVT anyways.
Totally agree, this is what happens when plans keep changing . I am running LS7 lifters
Planning to put my car on a mustang dyno next week & see what happens at high rpm
I'm running LS7 lifters as well no issues up top. However my buddy is seeing issues with his build. But he has a 2650 on his LT4/Camaro. Car was breaking up, up top, now she's ticking on the leftside. Hoping its just a lifter. Oil pressure, oil and filter all look good.
