Default Help with “budget” build

Okay guys and gals,

Im trying to be halfway safe bit also on a budget. I’ve been talking with a tuner but let me tell you it’s hard to get into a good one quick. I’m being told I need about another $3000 worth of parts+ labor to get my car tuned and not be a waste. Can people help me understand. All I was wanting was 700+ wheel. But the more the better obviously.

current list of mod purchased and installed/waiting install

TSP 1 7/8” headers and catless x-pipe
AFE intake
DSX flex fuel sensor
alky dual 10+15 meth kit
2.3” upper pulley(waiting install)
15% overdrive pulley
green belt
Cordes ice box

**being told I need before tuning
DSX low side pump
Kong ported blower
103mm TB

Please fill me in, new to Vette mods.

The low side would be a good investment just because you want to run flex fuel. Without the low side you'll be limited on the alcohol % you can run. This setup will be very meth dependent without a cam to help the high side. It'll be fine, just know that.

The porting and the throttle body isn't necessary at all.

My car goes to the shop Tuesday to have the meth kit installed with a tune. Still not sure if I need the low side pump to pick up more power or to at least keep it from pulling timing and going into limp mode.

does anyone have any experience with this or know if they had problems with the same mods?

I agree 100% on the porting if I was going to do that only put on a 95 ZR1 ported one from Mike in here.. also you need a cam with a 32 or 38% increase in fueling for sure. This to me would be the 1st thing I would do without thinking about it. Robert

Adding a low side fuel system assists with fuel pressure to the high side. If you’re wanting to run flex fuel and no cam you will need to seriously consider the low side fuel system.... you will need methanol also. I got away with e40 without a low side but I had a cam and 2 - 15gph meth nozzles.

yes the tuner is right, a low side to help your emix and a ported blower (heatsoak) forsure with your pulley combo, TB yes but can wait on it. just make sure you opt for the103 opening.
You need cooling mods forsure exhanger,and a 160 t-stat.

Do it right the first time so you wont have problems and wont be disappointed with your #s

im starting to already get that feeling. I’ve just spent so much dang money haha....

I said in the beginning I wanted to make 700-725 RWHP. I’m afraid it’s not gonna do it.

stopped by the shop to drop off another box today. 2.3 upper pulley is on, DSX e-85 sensor and low side pumps on, and most of the Alky kit is on. Everything is removed for the lower pulley tomorrow and then some small button up and tune.

i have to install the Cordes ICE box tomorrow afternoon before the tune. A guy named Casey Rants is tuning it remotely. I guess he does all of Texas speeds tuning and a lot of others. I’m just really hoping it turns out well.

No thats right. Red is when it is priming and green is spraying If at any point it doesn't turn green, get out the throttle, there is an issue.

So when it turns green is it bright green or a light green? Also I feel like mine isn't as much red as it lights up more orange'ish lol

What type of timing are you guys running. I got to drive it today and it felt spicy at 20* timing. I know nothing about it so figured I’d ask. Alky Meth setting is only on 3.5-4 on pump gas and I honestly thought it would be more. Just looking for some opinions.(juice) where you at????

Ok guys, car is pulling timing at 3,300-5,500 rpms. Goes from 28* to 2* and sometimes -2* of timing between pulls. Not sure what’s going on but I need some help. The tuner says he is working on it but I would love to have 100% of my car back!!!

Well there could be a lot of factors. Where is the fuel pressure on the low and high sides? How much meth are you spraying? Is it pulling timing on 93 or some mixture of E? Is the throttle staying open?

Has this guy tuned a LT motor before?

You need the low side pump for the flex fuel sensor to function properly, and fully. The ported blower and the 103 arent needed. You could get a soler or Mamo ported tb and be just fine. Surprised you would go with an ice box as opposed the the heat exchanger and/or an expansion tank. You will also NEED a catch can for the vehicle, or you will blow out the PCV...Ask me how I know.

i think it has something to do with the torque management is what I’m being told. Not sure though. I ordered a Mighty Mouse catch can just a minute ago so I’ll install that when I get the car back.

maybe a cam in the future or a 2650 instead lol. Not sure which one.

On a setup like that with a 2.3 / 15% pulley combo, you will pick up 70-80rwhp from our CNC LT4 port with the 103mm.
