Coating engine internals
I am building a forged 416 lt1 with a ysi. I been looking at coating pistons, combustion chambers, valves, valvesprings and headers. Been looking at swaintech and polydyne and wanted some opinions feedback from members that had done it and with what company

How much does all that cost? My build consists of nothing but the parts as they came. Only the Wiseco pistons had any kind of coating. Just the skirts.
I personally would not do it. Only you will know that it has been done and I doubt you would know if it helped.
Spend the bucks on something that will add LOTS of power.

love the idea of the piston skirt coating, bearings, and ceramic for piston top and chamber valve coatings to keep the heat in the combustion
theoretically it should help both power and durability
I saw some testing that also showed it made the piston survive detonation better
not much of a power gain, might help the engine rev faster and run a bit cooler

SwainTech is coating my Mast Black Label heads shortly. Cometic has backordered my sealing rings. They are doing Thermal barrier coating on the combustion chambers and exhaust runners. C7s are difficult to keep cool, and I have an interchiller, so anything I can do to reduce my cooling load on the radiator is helpful. They will also be coating my custom Ross pistons once they are done. I have their header coating already and they are great at what they do. They tell you exactly what to expect, good or bad. The short answer is if your pushing the envelope, they will definitely give you the best chance at success. If you’re not, there isn’t much to gain from it.

It functions great, I think it’s the only coating that kinda negates the header heat. It’s not the prettiest coating, and they advertise that. The texture is rough tho so I had them Cerakote’d over the Swain. Made it a little better looking.

thats why I’m looking at Plydyntheror header oating comes with a top coat.But dont know if the thermal efficiency is the same.
