2014 C7 Meth AND e85
I just finished putting together a build and now the shop is telling me something different than what we initially spoke about.
I have a 2014 LT1 and have done the following:
Headers/straight pipe
ECS 1500 Centrifugal supercharger (took 1 restrictor plate off)
Methanol injection
lt4 injectors
Brisk 2 steps colder sparks
Lt4 fuel pump
DSX auxillary fuel pump
MSD intake manifold
103mm Nick williams throttle body
I was told that I could convert to e85 with the aux fuel pump, injectors, and lt4 fuel pump, but have since been told I would need a flex fuel sensor (no big deal). The shop is telling me the meth and e85 will cancel each other out and they are going to tune it for 93 octane instead?
Am I missing something here or aren't there benefits to running e85 with meth?
With your setup you will have to have meth to be able to run e85. Not because of octane but because of injector timing on the high pressure side. You have everything you need to be able to run a blend of e85. Most likely you’ll only be able to run e50 or 60 before the high pressure side struggles a bit without a cam or better injectors.
Back to your original question, yes you can run both and you should. They probably just don’t know how to tune the car for flex fuel.
