I know how this works- everyone's got a different way to think-
A&A kit going on my '16 z51 in the next couple weeks. Shooting for 600 RWH.
I've got 2 sets of rims. One set 18/19, the other stock 19/20".
I was thinking about having one set to romp around with, sticky back tires. The other set for all around twisty trips, etc.
I've read the Mickey Thompson Street ET's might have some wallow at speed, not good with corners, and terrible in weather. Some even say they're hard to balance.
Others say Nitto 888? Majority seem to be keeping the gold standard Sport pilot 4's.
I know I'm not going to marry the tires, just don't want to spend a grand on 2 tires that are useless.
TIA
Mickey's will be the stickiest streetable tire. For twisties you'll find good luck with R888R/PS4S. R888R imo are the best all around tire for strictly performance.
I see some people complain about their wet weather performance, but they're okay to drive around in. I don't think it's wise to try to push a Corevtte in wet weather regardless of what tire you're using so they'd be my vote.
I like the Nitto 555r2, I ran those on my C7. I had a set on the 19" stock wheels and on a drag pack for the track. I also run them on my Lt1 Camaro with a 2300 Maggie from SCOL and TooHighPsi Port Injection, it makes about 707 at the wheels. They hook very well from a roll and with you looking at making just 600 I think it would be your best bet. The R888s get pretty noisy so I'd be leery of those although they are pretty sticky and do hook pretty well from what I've heard and guys on this forum say. Good luck in your choice.
Where do you live? I'm a little over 600hp to the wheels and have no need for anything g more than an extreme contact from continental. And before you ask, I push it every chance I get....
A friend of mine turned me on to these https://www.prioritytire.com/by-bran...z850-dr-tires/ I am going to give them a shot. He said they aren't as noisy as the R888's but just a sticky. Can't go wrong with the price point either..

It has a 100 threadwear and a depth of 4/32. They won't last very long.

are the 888r’s quick to come up to temp for street driving? The complaint I see about cup2’s is that while a great performance tire they don’t work well on the street for this reason

depends on what you call pushing it, Continental EC are not holding 600 HP , l I have newer MPSS for my street tires and even with TC on they will spin thru 1st and into 2nd if I don't just roll into the throttle. the only thing that will hold from a dig is my heated-up NITTO drag radials.

yes very quick. For me they won’t spin more than a couple times before they hook. At stock power I could actually just drive on the highway for a few min and gun it from a stop pretty easily. They’re just wonderful tires for a nice day out for some heavy foot cruising.
Dave, you still running the nittos you got from me? Those things outta be down to the threads by now!! Lol
LOL Pretty close Gary , they still stick like glue, Since our track closed down I have not used them much . I have been leaving the MPSS on it most of the time .

whatever you say boss. My version of pushing it is sending it!. Roll races digs from second you name it. Maybe its a driver mod for you or your part of the country and roads but here in the south. They do good. Why would you do a dig from first anyway. 1st is good for nothing.
I am not your " BOSS" lol lol and I can assure you, I don't need a driver mod lol
I am just old school 1/8th or 1/4-mile guy, not 40 MPH roll. I just feel if you can't get it to the ground, then why have it ......
My first gear is fine, not too many people can pop a low 1.7 sixty ft time with factory run craps on an unprepped surface.
It's just different strokes for different folks
Dave
funny you know nothing about me. I'm old school 1/8 and 1/4 mile guy myself. It does seem you know everything about tires though. So was the op asking about a track tire or a street tire? You have confused me now as I could have sworn it was for the street. And I called you boss because you seem to know all. So please continue to enlighten us. I already responded to the op what I felt appropriate for his neck of the woods and surface.

I agree. 600-700 whp and my 285/30R20 555r2 do very well. Decent price too if you can find them.
I have an A&A Ti kit on my C7 made around 615rwhp. I am currently finishing up building the engine, shooting for the 800whp range. R888R work decently, but I found playing around with the rear PSI works pretty damn good. I think imma try the Toyo RRs once the build is done. I'll be dropping down to 18s in the rear. My buddy is dropping to an 18 and running MT. It is supposed to be a great tire.
