Default rear tire input

I have a C7 with A&A supercharger making 619 rwhp. need some input on rear tires. I have been running305 30 20 Nitto NT555 Rlls and am not really satisfied. Nitto INVOs on front. I do some drag racing and am looking to do some road racing this year. Also travel with it. would like to hear feedback. have stock wheels. am going to go back to 285s next time. have heard that the toyo r888s are very noisy.

What is it that you are not satisfied with ... tires are pretty much a compromise . Tires that hook for dig racing do not handle well.

Tires that are good a road course are not good for hooking out of the hole and neither one is good for day to day driving let alone when it rains out .....

I am running a simliar procharger setup
For drag racing I have a set of 19 inch 285 Nitto drag radials and a set of Mickey Thompsons 305 19 . If i did not already have these tires I would drop down to a 18 inch rim but the both hook well drag racing , especially the Nittos as they are pretty old and are getting real thin

For everyday driving and occasional road race event i have the stock 19 20 inch Michelin Pilot Super Sports . These hook pretty good , traction control on and rolling into the throttle i can get some pretty good 60 ft times for a street tire ....with TC off its a fine line between cutting a good 60 ft time and blowing the tires off of it ...

I run those Nittos on all 4 corners. I am 13 psi. 800rwhp and 700rwtq. They hook like mad. Best tires for the street and highway.

thanks for the input I know there is no "everything tire" . just trying to get some feedback on what has worked for others with a similar setup.

you can hook them with 800 rwhp?? I I have not been able to hook mine since I put a 3200 stall convertor in. I am going to go back to a 285 and see if that helps.

Depending on the event track prep would play a big role depending if they are prepping for slicks or radials. For dig racing I would probably run an NT05R over the 555r, or a MT ET street R. 3200 rpm is probably hitting that particular tire too hard.

thanks for the input, yeah I regret doing the torque convertor the way to make it work is to use slicks.

Toyo R888R work well with my stock well, but I found playing around with the rear psi helps them alot more. I am actually dropping to an 18 and playing to run the MT out back to see how they do.

What pressure are you running in them?

I had no issues with the NT555R2 hooking up on my GT500 with 715whp. That being said I went with R888R on my bolt on C7Z as I felt they had slightly better dry grip when I had them on my 730whp ZL1.

The Nitto's and MT ET streets are about as much compromise as you can get at that performance.

You'll need different tires for road racing. Look at 200TW street/track tires like the Eagles and Pilot Sport Cup 2's and similar. The Toyos have a good rep for hooking better on the street than other track tires. But, they are not as good for road racing as the other brands.

For drag racing go down to a 19 or 18" rear tire and you'll have better options in the drag radials. I have 500 whp in my Z51 and I run the 305/35-19 Nitto 555R2 drag radial. They do a decent job but my car is a manual so it still shocks the tires pretty hard on launches.

Lastly, you can run a 265 and 305 setup on stock 19/20 Z51 wheels. I run Eagle Supercar 3s and they work great on the street in that size. Especially, once they warm up.
