C7 is the cover story in the new issue of Motor Trend along with designer's input on which way Chevy will/should go. Interesting thought is going mid-engine only for the z06 due to costs.

Too wide for me...
Looks a little like the LP640 from Lambo. The Corvette now is all about more curves and smoother lines. I think the current Z06 looks better than that. But as we all know even if this was the actuall concept car - things change when going into production and it will look slightly different.

Looks a lot lot like a "razors edge" modena.... I'll keep my C6 until we really see what the new C7 will look like....

Mid engined huh? Well, all I can say is if you wrench the car yourself then say goodbye to your back. Maybe, there would actually be room to work since it's not Japanese! I like my mid engined car but the labor to work on it is too expensive. My back and I are tired of working on it period.

Artists' renduring of the mid-engine car under consideration. Two years ago at the first C6 Bash in Bowling Green I heard the first rumors that the C7 was being considered for a mid-motor. Who knows??? If they go in that direction, probably put the cost out of my comfort zone!

Let's see . . . I should be just about ready to trade up my 2007 C6 'vert by the time the C7 comes out. Whatever configuration it is, I want one. I would prefer it not to be mid-engined (OK, OK, rear mid engined as opposed to front mid-engined, which we all know it already is), but if it is, it is. I'll risk it and give it a try.

I am quite sure whatever it is, it isn't going to be a straight up rip off of Lamborghini like this photochop.
I was thinking about what I'd like to see in the C7, and one thing I came up with is they need to get rid of the hatchback on coupes. They have been doing that since '78, and it is a little long in the tooth from a design standpoint imo.

Its time for a new look! This thing of getting by using systems and parts from older models is getting old. Really was there that much change other than the headlight between the C5 and the C6. The C7 looks to much like the last two platforms. Give me a break! GM needs to come up with a new design.

New Vette 2012?
Have a look at this link. Per the article and agreement between the UAW and GM Bowling Green is to begin building a new Vette/ XLR in 2012.

Hey, I just hope the UAW can keep their promise and deal with an incredible responsibility to faciliate the Health insurance. This will be no easy task.
This deal they've just accepted responsibility for; and the whole thing stays together to even produce a C7.
We do want the GM giant to come alive again and be well.

Mid-engined vert?
Aside from the fact that I think this body particular design is butt ugly and far too angular and faceted for my tastes, would a rear-engined convertible be practical (or even possible)? Where would the top go? And I wouldn't want the engine that close to my head with the top down.
If this is all the designers have to offer, I think I'll keep my C6 vert.
