For those of us old enough to remember, the AC Cobra was the ultimate "chick car."

They had better not lower the horsepower.

They're going to lower the horsepower, I'd bet the farm on it.

It no doubt will somewhat be offset with lower weight. Realistically, I expect the 1st several years of C7 (if they happen at all!!) to be somewhat disappointing.

However, in light of the fact that gasoline prices won't be coming down anytime, period. Combined with the new Federal regulation package, we all knew the Corvette would need to change direction. They just can't keep making the displacements larger every year.
Funny how things change in just a few months.
Back when this was originally typed, I would have never thought gas would have came down to the price it is now. Then again, not many of us would have predicted the rest of this [economic] mess either.

I hope no one said this yet... Last time I checked the corvette was still considered to be a muscle car (maybe not like 502 cadillac dropped in a Nova) but still the same. When you move to a 4.7L, I don't care how much hp you push out of it and how revolutionary it is. sounds european to me, and they have the market pretty well undercontrol. What ever happened to good old american thinking. the bigger it is, the better it is. I'll take I higherpowered bigger car that shreds tires anyday over a small miada like car that goes 0-60 like a motorcycle. There is a totally different feeling of acceleration from a lightweight tiny car. You feel fast as hell, not powerful.

and who needs a chick car. any chick who can't respect 500hp I don't want to have anything to do with. I can hear it now, "hey baby, check out my brand new vette! Just bought it 5th off the assembly line." she responds, "o, that is so cute!!! I love it!" I would blow my head off from embarasment.

I agree that GM knows best, I guess we just have to take it as it comes.

Id still buy it with a Turbo 6. Skyline, Supra, Buick GN are all mosnters and all mid to upper 3k pounds. I mean even the Audi TTS is pushing 276hp out of a 2.0 4 banger. I have had..

91 Forumula 350
01 Vortech stang GT
04 Turbo Cobra

A turbo whooooosh is way better then anything.

Turn up the boost and hold on tight. WTB a Turbo C7 =)
