C7 Track Car
Since Corvette Racing is moving into GT2 next year with a new 5.5 liter, direct injection motor, my thoughts for a new C7 (or it could be a late run C6) track car are as follows:
3000 pounds;
Comes in yellow/black track paint scheme only; black interior
lightweight hatch glass/plastic;
built-in 4 point roll cage inside the roof padding; frame and doors, etc., laid out for easy addition of full cage; steel frame;
lightweight racing seats with excellent support and harness pass-throughs;
adjustable pedals;
front and rear tow hooks;
5.5 liter DI V8, slightly detuned version of ALMS engine--forged internals and real multi-pump dry sump; runs on gas or E85.
AP or Brembo 4 pot calipers with detachable iron discs with intergral cooling ducts and hoses--carbon is too expensive and still wears out!;
coil-overs with height adjustment;
6 speed short throw manual;
elec power steering;
oil cooler, tranny cooler, diff cooler, with venting;
AC delete option; radio delete option; carpet delete option replaced with no-skid rubberized material; no Nav, etc.--a real car, not a toy.
Call it the C7ALMS.
Sell it for 75K; option of track instruction with the car.
Can this car be built for and sold for 75K? Would you want one? Man, I would....
I forgot--delete tire sensors and get non-runflat tires.
