To he!! with what it looks like or when exactly its coming out. The best part of this AutoWeek story is they are already talking C8!!!! Folks our car is alive and well at GM!!!
Wow from this view it looks somewhat like an NSX, awesome.
this view, not so awesome.
I hope they go with the twin turbo v6, it we be way easier and less expensive to extract more power out of it. I mean looks at the new bmw's with the twin turbo straight 6, buy bolt on intake, exhaust, and plug in a piggy back computer and they pick up nearly 100hp.
An aluminum-bodied, mid-engine-V6 Vette? It might sell in Europe, but who will buy it in the US of A? Fiberglass and a front V8 manage to get the C6/Z06/ZR1 around the Nordschleife mighty fast compared to all the competition today, so I can't imagine where the design has inherent problems. Sharper steering, more precise shifting, better interior ... Done! Make it a bit shorter and narrower and it would be icing on the cake. Chevy hasn't even applied cylinder deactivation, variable cam timing, direct injection, etc. to the LS engines, so let them go there first before making the Vette into a Boxster. The perceived superiority of 911 Porsches is just advertising and suspension of disbelief, given its MacPherson struts up front, ***-hung engine, iterative squashed-Beetle styling, piggy aerodynamics that require wart-like rear spoilers to stay on the ground at speed, and a cramped interior. If it were made in Korea it would be a running joke. Chevy, simply refine the C6, since it is an incredibly well-balanced and solid chassis, has great power delivery, wondrous highway mileage, great luggage space and fantastic ride and handling. I own my 21st (67 convertible) and 22nd (07 coupe) Vettes now, and look cannot imagine changing the fiberglass/front V8 formula, or buying a mid-V6/aluminum "Corvette."
annoying? why? because some people out there don't think just like you?
The interior on the vette is a joke. The new GTI has an interior that is WORLDS better than the vette's
Then go buy a GTI. Corvette will surely die if GM puts a V6 in it. Doesnt matter if it has forced induction or not. A V8 is a part of Corvettes heritage.

Annoying why? Maybe because the corvette was not founded on a mid engine v-6. The corvette has always been, and always been known for a front engine v-8. It is an AMERICAN muscle car.
You have the nerve to compare a 4 cylinder German GTI to a Corvette? In your opinion if you think the interior is better on a GTI, maybe it is because all the money is put into the interior which is why a vette would lap it around a track. Corvette owners buy a corvette for the ENGINE, and PERFORMANCE, interior is secondary. If interior is so important to you go buy an audi A4 for the same price as a vette, and run 16 second quarter mile all day in comfort.
You're right a lot of poeple do not think like me, but I would say a lions share of the Corvette owners do. People who drive civics and STIs probably don't, but hey, they are in our rear view mirrors so its irrelevant

Yea and they are more expensive that the 06 Z06, and with the mods they still get smoked.
All you do is talk about how much better german cars are, GTI's, BMW's, do you own a vette?

Well it hasnt always been a V8. It did start out with a I6 from '53-'55 but that is also what almost killed it until Zora put a V8 as an option in it in '55.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
