Im sure people will still buy it but one of the great things about the Corvette is hearing the rumble of the V8. Granted the stock C5 and C6 exhaust isnt that great but with an aftermarket exhaust it wakes it up pretty well. If GM puts a 6 cylinder back in it then its just going to sound like a ricer and Im sure a lot of the V8 gearheads that love Corvettes will not be buying it. Thats just my $.2 though.

As far as the C7 is concerned, l never liked the C6 and still have my C5!
But when the C8 comes out then it will be time to make a move for sure. It will probably be a gas/electric or something like that.
Anyway what it will do is bring life back into the C5's and C6's and bury the C4's for sure.

We're halfway through the 2010 model year. And they think we'll see two model changes between now and 2016?
Not a chance.
I have no inside info, but based on all that has gone before - I'd bet the C7 drops as a 2013-2014 and lasts for a 6-8 year run. Look for C8 no sooner than MY 2020.

I like how they are talking about the C8 while no-one really knows whats the deal with the C7!
By the time the C8 comes out, the world as we know it will be a different place. Who knows, but lets focus on the C7 because this generation could be the make or break for Corvettes....
All I know is I cannot wait for the first spy shot of the C7! Im keeping my eyes peeled on the road! Ya never know!!!

And don't give me the typical defense line "oh, but some of them are quick"... my oil drain plug has more torque than that grinder has wet dreams over ever hoping to experience. Don't talk NOS either... NOS = Viagara... something you need when you want to be something you know you can't... and it doesn't last, or fix your ED problem to begin with. I'm sorry... did I miss the purple Honda Civic with the big wing on the trunk that was furiously burning oil in the 12 hours of LeMans? And yes, I know there are 4 cyl engines at LeMans... but an engine is like a rubber band... stretch it too far and it's gonna snap. I have yet to see a civic with a genuine indy car 4 cyl under the hood. Want to get more out of a rubber band and not have it fail? Get a bigger rubber band.
The only thing that GM isn't doing right if they change the drive train for something smaller is just that. Sure... Give me Zora's dream of a mid engined Corvette... with a reliable, warranted 8 liter or better 8 or 10 cyl. engine (and it better be putting out like those NYC Asian Escorts kangyu was talkin about too... like 800 hp).

Yep, very true. I6's are not bad engine. Usualy very allot of tourqe by design...
While it's true most the Corvettes had a V8 through the years, probably best they keep it that way. But I see no problem with them going 6.
I do have a problem with it being mid engine...
Because sorry Corvette... Front Engine/Two Seater/RWD/Fiberglass

There will always be a v8 in GM's trucks. With that? the corvette will always have a v8 motor. New High strength multi piece chassis.
Hopefully GM will rid us of those crappy runflat tires.
475hp...with DSG (hoping for) and front MID engine chassis. I want to buy one.

I case you haven't noticed
The Corvette "LINE" has expanded.
Base Coupe
Base Convertable
GS Coupe
GS Convertable
Z06
2011 Carbon Z06 (Called a ZR1 with a LS7 engine by GM)
ZR1
If GM feels compelled to attract the Ricer Generation with a V6, they could always build a sidewinder ala Fiero by taking a front wheel drive V6 package and moving it to the rear. Call it a Cutter That's a war ship smaller than the Corvette Somewhere there's an article that contends that the V6 is an exciting engine to those rasied on an I4. Good for them. Just don't destroy the V8 until we all go to sail and sun power
