Have a 2010 ZR1 for about 3 months with 1100 miles. Kept in an Air Conditioned building. Looked up under the car for the first time today and it looked like the front end had never been rustproofed? The lower A arms were heavily corroded and there was signs of rust at several other component locations. Spoke with my Corvette Tech and was totally surprised when he said that GM does not do any rustproofing under the car. He has seen this on C6 cars also. We treated the rust but I still cannot believe that in this day GM does not do any rustproofing of the car??? Anybody else have this issue? Thanks!
Jack the car up and place it on jack stands remove tires and strut assembly go to your local auto parts store and rent a spring commpressor and compress the spring get new spring from parts store and compress it the parts will probly cost around 100 and the compressor will probl cost around 40 to 50 to buy 0r you can rent it from most autopart stores.
There are some kinds of aluminum that are very prone to corrosion. I have seen it with my own eyes. I work in a medical machine shop and unfortunately have seen corroded aluminum. Let me say this very clear for everybody Aluminum does not rust. Rust refers only to iron and steel corrosion.
