GM had an Ecotec crate 2.0 liter engine with turbo that was rated at 1000 HP. I saw the specs myself and showed how strong that block was made.

I've seen 800 WHP from a 2.4 liter engine with my own eyes. They could possibly put the Ecotec in Corvette. Here is a quote:

"By making additional changes in the cylinder lining and cylinder heads, GM Racing engineers have been steadily increasing the ECOTEC's output to where they are now on the threshold of 1000 horsepower!

When F1 ran turbo engines an engineer commented that the only limit on the power they were able to produce was the strength of the engine block and the amount of fuel they could flow. Doesn't mean the power is usable on the street!
