That's not gonna be the new vette. That's just a concept car to show that GM CAn do something like that. It'll never get made. Something that shares some of it's features will get made, like it's powertrane. But nothing that looks even remotely like that will roll off the assembly line. They never do.
I wonder how long it'll take Americans to realize that if we start really using electric cars, our electricity values will skyrocket, and any money saved in this country by not buying foreign oil, will instead be spent on paying for heating and cooling our houses? ****, CT has brown outs all the time, because we can't seem to get enough electricity. Here, if you use certain appliances before 8pm, you get an extra charged tacked onto your bill, and those bills are no laughing matter. Hate to see what it'll be like when all of a sudden we are using 20 times the electricity than we currently use...

I think the logical progression is:
1. Use LP gas for the short term. America has 100 years on tap with not importing a drop of oil & it burns cleaner, cheaper then Gas. Many cars can simply be converted to run it thus not a big change really & setting up gas stations to distribute it is not all that hard as well.
2. Develop more efficient solar, use it on house roof tops (cheaper then fighting wars), along freeways like Germany does.
3. Develop cars & roads that wirelessly transfer electricity under the roads to cars so people can drive long distances with electric cars. This technology is being developed right now so it is something that can be done. I can see where cars like a Volt or leaf could drive around town & simply get on hwys & travel all day without fear of running out of juice.
The bottom line is our nation needs a real vision, much like we had when our freeway systems were developed.
