Default Take a real close look at this rear window

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2011...D_AM/111119912

Take a real close look at the rear window design on the Corvette Grand Am car. Why go through all the trouble to design a "split" rear window?

The author says "the new Corvette Daytona Prototype contains numerous styling cues from the street version of the Chevrolet Corvette".

Appeal to the past and/or a hint of the future?

I read awhile ago, that C7 will come from the racing Corvettes.

I do not have the skills but a photo-shop expect should use this design (front, back, and window) on a C6, and I feel that would be very close to the new C7.

Yeah. For the same reason there's a brace running across the width of the window.

The first thing I thought when I saw the pictures of the Daytona Prototype was "there's the new rear styling for the 2014". Perfect blend of modern function and "retro" styling. Well done to the Corvette racing team. I'd expect we'll see something similar in the C7. Almost gets me excited

This looks really close to the rendering to me. Take off the extra fender crap and the basic shape of the C7 is right there. It has similar fender vents, similar roof line, similar rear window etc. You need to wait to see the car in person, the C7 renderings never give as good a look as the real thing.

This is a very cool looking DP!! I initially thought it may be a C7 styling cue, but the more I look at the car the more I think it's a functional (add strength for the hinge)!!

I am not a big fan of a split rear window. I'd rather have the visibility.
