Default I want the concept car

I am new. and No I don't have a Corvette yet.

But I have to say that I loved the GM concept car... The one that was also in the transformers movie.

These other cars that are being shown, well honestly, I don't like them.

I love the old ones, except the 53,54 and 55.

I like the c2's and the c3's, the end of the run c4's are sharp, never liked the c5's, but would take one if free, really liked the c6's, but this new c7, it just doesn't have any soul of it's own if it is what C&D and others are showing. it's just a plastic cladded up c6 evolution and not a revolutionary design.

IMHO of course.

what do you all think?

I totally agree. Every time I have seen a picture of the Transformers Vette (Centennial Concept) I absolutely fall in love with it. To me, it embodies everything that a modern Vette should be, while at the same time paying homage to its roots. It sucks that we won't get that version (which would have been an instant BUY for me) but I'm cautiously optimistic about the C7 design...I will not pass judgement until I've seen one in person next summer. But, from all we have to go on at this moment, the chances that I'll stick with a used C6 of some kind are pretty high.

Next summer? It will be presented in January, as far as I know.

I love the concept too. It is by far the coolest car I have ever seen.

However, its about 50/50 for the number of people who like it against the renderings of what is thought to be the new corvette. Check out this thread:

I hate to judge cars in photos, even worse, judging "artist renditions" (like the jalopnik C7 drawings echoing through the forums). I saw the Sting Ray Concept Car in-person at the GM Heritage Museum (near Detroit, highly recommended) with a large group of Corvette owners and enthusiasts. It looked absolutely gorgeous! Sexy curves like a C2/C3, but modern. No one had a negative comment about the appearance. Most said they'd sell their C6 and buy a C7 if it looked like the Sting Ray Concept Car.

Most guys with the 63 SWC all agree...here are some photos that I took few years ago at the NCM...

The Transformers car is amazing. Simply amazing.

I would probably buy one as soon as my C6 is paid for...and have both. The Transformers concept could use a bit of tidying up in the front and rear, maybe some of the proportions are a bit too big. However the overall package is incredible.

Now i will probably just keep the C6 and wait for the C8, which is probably better for me financially anyway

If i were in the market for a vette now, i would get a 2013 and NOT wait for the C7, based on what we've heard and seen in C&D and those hideous jalopy renderings.

Of course i could be wrong....

If you can wait on a 2013 model, I think we'll also get a better look at the real C7, too. Then you'll know which one you want. But I expect the C7 is going to have other important changes (interior styling, GPS, audio system, electronics, seats...) that will leak out slowly, after we glimpse the new body. C6 performance is already great, GM needs to address some of the other C6 weaknesses. Base C6 buyers may still be happy. But, it's clear expectations of $80K+ sports cars are higher today than they were in 2004.

Cheers,
JB

I can understand why some people like it. But to me it's like an otherwise good coffee with too much sugar in it.

I think some big fans would grow tired fast actually owning it.

Looks even better in person. I didn't think I liked it until I saw it in person. I would trade my 07' Z and '92 LT1 for it. I do have faith in the Corvette Design Team though. They'll bring it.

It is certainly interesting.

And it's almost certainly not the C7.

Other than the back and front, I LOVE IT! They just need to tone the ends down a bit is all.

I won't be traveling to the auto show for the reveal in January, so in order to physically see it in person I'll have to wait until it gets to dealer showrooms sometime next summer.

Spacewars 2020 rice. That car is laughably ugly.

I really can't think of the last time I saw a concept car that was honestly that gaudy, over vented, over styled, and simply that quack. If that car had debuted in April, I'd have bet money it was an April Fools joke.

It is dramatic and would not be a bad theme to have followed. The slit side windows and split rear window are horrible for a driver's car

I just want the seats (!!) and for them to easily backdate to C5/6 while retaining memory/power head room, and seat belt location.

I don't mind at all having a Split Window... Been driving it for years with no problems, not having the the right side mirror is more of a problem then the split window.

I have to agree with you, especially the rear is wierd. Front less those big vents on the side would not be bad, looks like XLR. Again the back is just plain bad.
