Default Is the C7 a bottom breather?

-The mule lacks of visible air dam, though GM Global Technology filed a patent application for an air dam deployment system back in 01/12'.

-A semi-transparent area of the mule's cover on the hood (possible exhaust?), where white paint can be seen peeking through it from various angles.

-The grille area of the front fascia has a regular spaced black diamond grille. The design looks functional.

Looks just like the C6 set-up, not a bottom breather. My three F-bodies (dating back to '85) were true bottom breathers, and had no functional grill.

bottom breathing is bad for aerodynamics. You can't run a functional splitter/wing setup and take air in from below. It is likely that it will feed air in through the front like the C6. The big mesh cutout in the camouflage would also suggest this

The Ford GT & new Viper both have functional hood design to provide breathing and influence aerodynamics and down force. Looking at the hood of the spy photos, I will bet the same has been implemented.

The air dam is to minimize the amount of air flowing under the car, reducing drag and lift, directing some of it to the sides of the car. For example the Z06/GS/ZR1 is a 100% front feeder, yet it still has the front dam carryover from the base C6 that is a combo front/bottom feeder.

Some cars, like my Mercedes, do not have an air dam, but has a flat panel under the engine to control the air flowing under the car, etc along with the front fascia being design to minimize air flow under the car, to reduce drag. The panel has to be removed to change the oil, but no big deal.

Or, they may have removed the air dam(if so equipped) dutring the winter testing to prevent damage from snow/ ice if there are deep(?) ruts. Under the conditions pictured, I doubt if they were concerned about high speed stability(lift) or over heating.

The base C6 is a front(60%)/bottom(40%) feeder. On the GS/Z06/ZR1, the bottom opening is filled so that air can only enter the radiator cavity through the grille, making the GS/Z06/ZR1 100% a front feeder.

I got to ask so forgive me but doesn't this look exactly like a c6?
Same roof, same mirrors, same a pillar, even the side windows have the exact same awkward cut in the front. Even the b- pillar is the same up and down design.

My question is, does GM do this to throw us off?

That is certainly my guess. Only GM knows what we will end up with! My favorite thing to ponder is the 2 VENTS in the camo at the top of the rear fenders. WHAT are those all about?!? Just a trick or something real?

Yeah, I noticed those vents, but I think they are there just to relieve the air pressure inside the camo suit. The radiator grill has an opening, and without any venting, the camo covering would balloon at higher speeds.

On the other hand . . .
