First Pictures Of The C7 Competition

It's a stunning design..very muscular and clean. Having said that, I've owned a Jag.........NEVER AGAIN. Just after 50K miles (out of warranty) it needed all the seals replaced, pads and rotors, and a new sound system. The last day I owned it four different things broke in one day....the last straw being a fender turn signal that just decided to fall out and hang by the wire. Traded it for an E series that night.

Are they gonna make the CX-16 or is that just the concept for these F-Type BMW Z4 competitors?
What I read the CX-16 will be within the high end of the C7 price range @65-70K as a turbo six. Also mention that it can run as a hybrid via EV mode?
Now this would be a competitor of the C7.

From that 3/4 angle there, the preview image on that video, that looks REALLY freakin close to an FRS, just modified bumper opening. Also I notice, the f type's tail lights remind me of the brz/frs'. Maybe I'm crazy on that second part a little though lol.
All the front angles and vents just throw me off on these cars. The car is fairly flowy and Jag like, and it just seems they went overboard trying to make the car aggressive and un-Jag like. The grill opening is odd, 10 different slats in the front look ricey... its just not a mean looking car, nor on the other hand beautiful.

I think they said it will be priced from $75K for the convertible so probably $69K for the coupe.
The car is gorgeous and the interior stunning!! The only problem I see is that the base engines are 340HP or 380HP. I have a feeling the 380HP will be for the U.S market but I still think that's a little too low. I would have liked them to at least start it out at 400HP. But that S with 495HP is going to be real special and I can't wait to see the R version. I'm guessing 550HP minimum.
And I think this car (and the Corvette) is going to be more of a 911 competitor than a Boxster. It is almost the same size and actually 5" wider. Jag's have always had a better price advantage compared to a Porsche and other German cars so I think the $10K cheaper price might fool some into thinking it's a lesser car. IMO, it looks a 100x better than a 911 and it's interior will Pi$$ on any $80K 911 (even a $100K 911).

Most Jaguars and Aston Martins are really beautiful designs....some of the best looking cars on the planet. I do think perspective Corvette buyers will have this car on their radar. I just wish they were more reliable. I know they're improving but you'd still have to be crazy to own one without a bumper to bumper warranty.

Wait until the second model year and grab a barely used year old one for under $50K. Not a bad ride at that price. I'll still take a C7, though.

Hmmm base, supercharged 6 starts at 70k, high output supercharged six at 81k, and supercharged v8 at 92k. 340, 380, and 495hp. That pricing is pretty outta wack, least for the high output 6. 40 more hp for 11k out of a revised engine, or 155 more hp for 22k and probably much better power curves. Sales numbers should be interesting...

I can only presume tie c7 will not follow that trend, and will simply be a knockout car for the price.
However, that's not what I was getting at. As I said, at 70k you get a 340hp car. For an additional $11k, you get a revised engine with 40 more hp. However for "only" $11k more then the high output v6, you get a totally different engine with 115 more hp(or 155 more then base model). The hp per dollar, of one specific model, is way out of whack. 11 grand for 40 more hp or 22 grand for 155 more hp and an all new engine. Either the v6S is a total rip off, or the v8S is a steal, whichever way you wanna look at it.

And the Corvette does have a bunch of luxury features but unfortunately they are either outdated or of lower quality. But that is all going to change in 2014. Can't wait to see the new interior especially optioned out!!

You can say that for most used high-line depreciation levels. Take a look at 2-3 year old S classes, 7 series, etc....they take a big dump in price.

Really?? You might want to re-evaluate your comment cause Jaguar is selling the same car (V8 S Model) you are talking about for half that price ($90K).

Sorry, I just don't buy anyone telling me that any Jag is really significant competition for the Corvette. They are good cars I guess but they don't sell in enough numbers to be meaningful in the U.S. as least.
I recently spent a week in California at the Pebble Beach Concours and in the whole week I saw maybe 5 Jags and 3 of them were new cars for sale. I saw way more Porsches, Ferraris, and Lambos than Jags.

I love the looks of Jags, but man are they expensive to repair. And parts are unbelievably high priced. And when you factor that in with the ****-poor reliability............

Back when I bought my new GS, I told the guys in the dealership shop to give me a tech inspection 'cause I was taking it to the track. They signed off with a good-to-go and told me "If it breaks, bring it back." I wonder if a Jag dealer would tell me that?
